I’ve seen the drawings. It will be built just north of the existing bridge and the really nice thing will be the off ramp leading to westlake will go over the tracks. This way people going to work won’t have to sit waiting for rail cars to be moved like they do now.

Jesus. They’ve been doing environmental studies around the bridge for years now. I understand what they’re up against, but what’s the hold up on the findings? It’s inexcusable not having the info right now after the work has been done. Now they want to do MORE environmental testing when they’ve could have been doing it since the last set of tests were completed two years ago ?

This is the green light to start pursuing bids to begin construction.

Damn, 210 reopened what? Less than a year ago? This is going to be an absolute shite show. Hope they have the work just West of the Eastbound 210 split done by the time the bridge is closed.

Who says they’re closing the old bridge?

Honestly can’t see feds allowing it to be closed , 210 can’t handle the traffic. Only need one idiot to cause a huge traffic issue with no way to cross river.

I’m just assuming. Don’t know where they’d put the new one with the old in place. You have the train tracks to the North and Pile Debris to the South. Seems like a reroute that significant would present serious traffic flow issues.

I think the plan is to keep the old one closed and build the new one just to the north. There will be off ramps over the railroad tracks in Westlake

There’s plenty of room to the north. From the drawings I’ve seen the discussions I’ve heard the plan is just north of the old bridge. This would be the most feasible and makes sense logistically. As of now there isn’t any plans to close the old bridge during construction

Westlake people no longer have a standing excuse to be late for work.

The state needs to get out of its own way and clear a path for the Private Partner. Monitor their progress closely with checking and verification, but get out of the GD way!

Isn't the Lake Charles bridge literally falling down lol. I'm sure building a bridge over the Callcaseieu River is more feasible than the Miss. River, but that's just a guess. LC has a loop as well right? Maybe being rewarded for good forethought.

BR isn't a bridge problem, its a glow problem once exiting the east side of bridge.

Its so simple...do whatever it takes for traffic to go straight coming off bridge if they have no intention of stopping in BR.
It can meet back up at the 10/12 split
Problem solved

That's not a bad idea, just redo the split with some elevated entrances and exits and build an extension going straight off the bridge and loop into the split. That could definitely help if done correctly. Atleast it would free up traffic between the bridge and split and might help College drive a bit.

It’s inspected annually and sometimes more than that. If it was falling down like Facebook said it is, it’d been closed a long time ago.

The bridge isn’t falling down. It has such bad grades bc there’s literally no safety aspects such as lighting, median, shoulder and the grade angle is steeper than usual. The biggest worry is the fact that it was not built to endure the amount of constant weight that it takes on.

Yeh idk, I just googled it and it was rated as one of the unsafer bridges in the U.S>., after an engineer uncle was rambling on about it a year or so ago. I never drive through LC though. The guns are pretty cool on it, but Civil War muuuhh cancelled.

yeah b/c of the ancillary issues (median, shoulder, grade, etc.) but that's spun into social media panic about the potential for collapse

they just reinforced the hell out of the i10 bridge b/c of the increased traffic during the 210 work last year. it's integrity is inspected constantly
