I think those are supposed to be pirate pistols reminiscent of Jean Laffite. Nothing to do with Civil War.

correct. he was part of a war...the war of 1812

although they are trying to cancel that b/c lafitte apparently did smuggle/trade slaves, too

yeah b/c of the ancillary issues (median, shoulder, grade, etc.) but that's spun into social media panic about the potential for collapse

Correct. I think the biggest issue is the severe grade. It gives the 18 wheelers hell and slows them to a crawl if they are hauling a heavy load.

LC has a big advantage. They have a great idea as to where the new bridge goes. Years go by and BR still doesn’t know where to put theirs. But there’s hope! They are studying it again!

The artist downtown sells the castings.

Candace is her name I think. Bought some small drawings from her. Really nice. Took the time to show the kids her melting down the pewter to make them.

She'll paint them and mount them to wood as well. She got the original from a lady who was gifted extras that were made. Made one casting and produces replicas.

I wanted to get one for my brother, but he's in Canada and I was afraid customs would take it as the look like a firearm and they may be retarded and think its actually workable

Here they are. She was hit hard by the storm. Can probably use the business.

Projects like the LA 1 toll bridge in Leeville had a certain cost estimate

It’s going to be nice as hell in a million years when they extend the bridge to golden meadow then extend 4 laned 3235 all the way from its current ending in Larose to highway 90 near Raceland.

After that you’ll have a nice quick express trip to Grand Isle instead of having to take 308 for a stretch.

BR isn't a bridge problem, its a glow problem once exiting the east side of bridge.

Its so simple...do whatever it takes for traffic to go straight coming off bridge if they have no intention of stopping in BR.
It can meet back up at the 10/12 split
Problem solved
I think you severely underestimate the volume of traffic that gets on that bridge every weekday at 5PM from the west side. The traffic from the bridge is backed up all the way to Addis. That's thousands of cars and big trucks added to the already heavily congested traffic travelling East bound on I-10.

Simply adding another lane isn't going to even put a dent into it. And furthermore, adding a lane isn't going to do shite if there's an accident further down the road. And that isn't exactly an "if" as much as it is a several times a week occurrence.

Not to say that they don't need to add another lane. They absolutely do. But a new bridge needs to be built as well. It's not just a wish item. It's a necessity.

he new bridge will be much lower. I believe only 30-40 feet over the water instead of 90.

Why was that one built to a high if it obviously wasn’t needed?

ah for some reason I thought they were supposed to be symbolic of the Civil War, but Lafitte makes more sense. Like I said, I don't go though LC unless I have to. As for bridges, roadway development and loops, Shreveport is still up on the scoreboard for second place after New Orleans.
