Exactly. I’m thankful and giddy about LSU winning 3 national championships in 16 years. Most programs have never done that.
This century, only LSU and Alabama have accomplished this.

Some folks act like outside of 2019, we have sucked under O.
because O sold himself as the guy who would get over the Miles bump, but he's basically been at/below Miles
hell, just look at all the claimed issues in our recruiting (getting elite OL/DL). it's THE SAME as the PR points about Miles' recruiting that O would fix
O was supposed to make LSU a consistent playoff team. thanks to a once in a lifetime player becoming available, we did that. hell, that QB is why 2018 was so good, too. can O do that without insane outlier personnel luck? 2020 wasn't a good sign
this is O's 4th full year at HC. this is his team, and he was supposed to have all the "Miles problems" fixed a long time ago.

BAMA is tough to compete with.....they are solid EVERY year!
LSU is a very good program, but not at the Bama level.

you won't see the field at bama unless you are top 4 or 5 at your position ranking

Slow you are a pussy....and one of the heartbeats of this board. Because of pussies like you this place has become a throbbing pussy. You should be extremely proud.

We have to beat them again... and soon.
Coach O and staff can't have another class like the 2018 class... if you look at that signing group, there aren't many left on the roster. I'm counting 10 players from that class that made ZERO contribution on the field or transferred out.

I agree but this is the chicken and the egg argument. We can’t get players until we win but we need the players to win. I have talked to non LSU fans and this is how they see it. LSU lucked out by getting Brady and burrow and put together one great season. But now with them gone in addition to aranda and players we are back to pre 2018 season where bama will be kicking our arse yearly.
Did Brady forget how to coach in the NFL? He's not looking like the second coming of Sean McVay like most everyone thought.
Moreover, LSU's offense has done well this year relatively speaking considering the opt-outs and lack of experienced players.
Lastly, Coach O brought both of these guys in. That's not lucking out, nor is going 40-9 in your first 3 seasons.

Holy shite....we went 15-0 and won the NC last year (this calendar year). What the ever living frick is wrong with you people?

Seriously? This year is an anomaly for many reasons. I don’t think O deserves a pass for any of it because he made several mistakes that made things worse for us. But it’s still been a perfect shitstorm of everything that could possibly go wrong.
That said, if you look at the last 15 years, go find me a more consistent program over that span other than Alabama. You sure as hell won’t find one in the SEC. We’ve had two coaches who don’t even come close to measuring up to Saban man to man, yet we still consistently recruit top 5 and win. We have 2 national titles, another title shot, 3 SEC titles, 4 SEC West Titles and a few BCS/NY6 Bowl appearances that all came after Saban left here.
This may not be as much as we want, but it’s not nothing. Other coaches may have a few more regular season wins vs Saban, but we have more fricking hardware. Auburn is the only other school in that conversation, but they have been up and down, hot and cold as hell over that period and just fired their 3rd coach to our 1. We’re the only SEC program that has held up this well against Saban and Bama over this span.
I want better too. I think LSU is definitely capable of being more consistently competitive vs Bama head to head with the right leadership and improvements. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t give a shite about what’s been accomplished over the last 15 years. Some of you are so obsessed with Saban that none of the good over that span even matters.
As far as what can be done to hurt Saban in recruiting, you have two choices. You can accept what’s happening and move on, or you can find/create a way to respond in kind. For example, find a couple of hard-core LA kids and families that you can trust, pay them under the table for their silence and compliance, and do the same to him. Have them string the master along and flip him on signing day. Prove to him that you are willing to go to the same lengths and be as ruthless as he is. We shouldn’t have to resort to bullshite like this, but no one else is going to do anything about it. Maybe It’s time to take that last step toward the dark side and play just as dirty as they do.

We do very well recruiting but we aren't recruiting against McNeese
We are recruiting against Alabama. We have to compete in the field like they do to get us over that hump at the VERY edge of the scale. Why? Became that's where Bama is.
Last year this board was convinced we had turned that corner. Now it's back to the old philosophy. Kind of like the OL/DL stuff.

Weaver, you’re a clown.
LSU just had the #3 or #4 class in the country with the NCAA breathing down our neck.
Because you are in the mood for name calling, try this on for size... LSU fought in only one offensive lineman and the gulf between LSU and Bama widened despite LSU having a highly ranked class. I know you understand this but it seems you would rather be a contrarian and act like a pompous a-hole.

With these players that commit and then leave for bama on signing day.
Honestly not sure what he can do. I have been hard on O but it is hard to fault him when it comes to recruiting. He keeps bringing in top 5 classes and while some areas (Oline) could be better - I think that is more on his assistants than him.
At the end of the day, we need to accept that Bama is going to get our guys. Doesn't matter who the coach is. Saban and Bama have the greatest dynasty in CFB history, it isn't realistic to think we can compete with that. We have to limit the damage in recruiting as much as possible and I think we have - but to think we can create some complete stop-gap or fence that Bama can't penetrate is impossible. It is what it is, we have to weather the storm until Saban retires.

This is an accurate statement and although some events were beyond staff control, some problems were self inflicted and poorly managed by O. I've been pretty confident that 2021 could be a big year for LSU, but O and Scott need to clean up some of these issues and be more disciplined in their business decisions.

It is weird how the attitude of many on here was we needed to fire the previous coach because he wasn't putting out saban/bama level results and now these same people are accepting and making excuses for not achieving that level with the new coach.

- One of three active coaches with a national championship at current school
- 3 national titles since 2000 is second most in the country (Bama #1 with 5)
- 5 SEC championships since 2000 is second most in the SEC (Bama #1 with 6)

if you are expecting Bama level results you may as well just fire everyone every year until Saban leaves
I don't think some of you grasp just how unprecedented and dominant Saban has been there.

I agree. There is an argument that LSU is the #2 program of the past 20 years behind Bama
The difference is in the margins every year, over and over again. We have to match Bama at THIS to match Bama as a program.
We had a great class compared to everyone. We had a really, REALLY bad day yesterday when comparing ourselves to Bama. They likely started the day ahead, but then flipped 2 of our cornerstone recruits TO Bama.
This discussion boils down to whether or not fans are back in the Miles-era mindset of being happy to have a good game against Bama once every 5 years or in the 2019 mindset of being on Bama's level. If you're thinking like the Miles era, yesterday was amazing.
