The prequels were bad movies.
it is a must listen if you havent heard it before. LINK

winning the blade by combat would attract followers to her cause - that's one thing, but if it's some type of enchantment thing, I don't think that would be a great storyline.
Its just a lightsaber. There is no enchantment. Just like Moff Gideon said, its all about the story, winning it in combat is a physical symbol of who the leader is.

Yep, one of the reasons I like Filoni so much. He really does understand the big picture. The dialogue and writing was absolutely atrocious int he prequels, there is no denying that. There was some really good stuff in them though that unfortunately just gets overshadowed by the garbage.

I look at the prequels in the lens of being a Tolkien fan.
The Hobbit is a simple story, a fine fairytale book.
The Lord of the Rings is a great epic 3 book set.
The Hobbit would have made 1 good movie, they drug it out. The Lord of the Rings was perfect for a trilogy.
The Star Wars prequels, on the other hand, should be viewed as excerpts from the Silmarillon. Great history and massive amounts of structure, way too much even for a trilogy to present. You would have to take a small portion and make a series out from it (as Star Wars did with Clone Wars, and as Amazon will do with Tolkien's upcoming Numenor series).
Anakin's courtship of Padme would have been a lot better had it been over a few seasons, as would Qui-Gon's initial discovery of Anakin and the dealings with Naboo.

I hope so. But if she's really being forced out, then why was she the one who did the whole Star Wars/Lucasfilm investor day presentation a week or so ago talking about the Mandalorian and announcing the Rangers of the New Republic and Ahsoka spinoffs? If Disney knew they were getting rid of her, wouldn't it have made more sense to have someone else like Favreau or Filoni announcing the new projects they'll be in charge of?
I think she's still in charge of the business of running LucasFilm, but from what I've read is that she's only currently creatively involved with The Acolyte.

Just watched it. Wow. Now that is how you introduce Luke Skywalker. Why they didn’t think they couldn’t do something like that in the sequel trilogy I will never understand. Several times in the Force Awakens I was just hoping to see an X-Wing show up and for Luke to kick arse so we could what he had grown into. This isn’t hard stuff.

It really sucks that our first view into this point in time is going to have Kathleen Kennedy involved.

What’s The Acolyte about?
Posted on 12/29/20 at 12:29 pm to banone74
Its going to be a female-centric star wars series.
Co-developer of the series.
The showrunner
And Kathleen Kennedy will also be involved in this.

Set during the final days of the High Republic era, The Acolyte is described as a "mystery-thriller that will take the audience into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark side powers." The series was officially announced earlier this month as part of Disney Investor Day 2020, with Russian Doll co-creator Headland serving as showrunner.

So, a hard pass then?

Because white male bad, Rose Taco good. The force is female, gotta rid it of those pesky men.
Yeah that's somewhat tongue in cheekish, but they ushered his out with the quickness and as a whiny bitch. Not fitting for what he was supposed to evolve into, a master Jedi.

Probably depends on how much alcohol you’ve consumed.

Is one of fricking 10 upcoming star wars series. Watch the other 9.

Awesome. If it’s shite, I’ll stop watching. It’s amazing how that works.

Maybe The Acolyte will be good, but nothing that's come out so far makes me think that will be possible.
If it's as bad as every announcement surrounding the series so far, I hope the bad ratings don't make them think they should abandon the High Republic era.
If it's as bad as every announcement so far, I also hope they don't try to build the High Republic era around it.

Holy shite. This was one of the best episodes in tv history.
I’ve never seen a single Star Wars movie. The mandolorian is my first thing from the series I ever watched.

Not sure how you can appreciate the final episode as the best ever if you've never seen Star Wars before and don't know who Luke is, but i guess that's a testament to this show.

That’s kind of like saying you never watched the nba but couldn’t appreciate the last dance documentary :
I’ve heard of Luke’s name before from people who watched it. I understand what you’re coming from though.
Just really enjoyed this show and the finale was badass. Especially the music and ending.
