Looking back, needing someone strong enough to train through anger and fear should have been a GIANT clue that Luke was that Jedi. After all, Ahsoka was Anakin's padawan and managed to survive both the Clone War and the Civil War when Obi Wan and Yoda both failed to do so. Even going through all that, she knew she wasn't strong enough to train Grogu. That doesn't leave a whole lot of options.
Anyway, back to Artoo, he was excited because he RECOGNIZED Grogu. Grogu and Anakin were born pretty much the same time, so they would have been at the Temple together. Artoo was there with Anakin for all those years and certainly would have known everyone at the temple. So, since the destruction of the temple, Order 66, and Luke's birth all pretty much happened at the same time, Artoo would have thought Grogu was dead for Luke's entire life and naturally would have been really happy to see Grogu again after all that time. Grogu also seems to recognize Artoo. When Artoo rolls out from the hallway, Grogu IMMEDIATELY lets go of Din's leg and walks up to Artoo. Only after Grogu and Artoo chitter back and forth does Grogu look up to Luke and reach to be picked up.
Very good insight. Thanks. I didn’t think of them actually remembering each other

R2 had memory wiped?
Im not sure R2 has ever had a memory wipe since we’ve known him. Anakin never periodically wiped him in the war, and I think this ends up being a plot point in The Clone Wars when he is captured.
And in ROTS, only C-3PO is ordered to have a memory wipe for some reason.

It is. I just watched this episode. Somewhere back half of season 1

Ok. For some reason I thought it was both.

Bail Organa takes ownership of the droids. When he does this he orders C-3PO to have his memory wiped. I would assume its so 3PO couldn't accidently mention him undermining the emperor or telling anyone about Luke, Leia, Obi-wan, or Yoda.
George Lucas only had this put in to cover plot holes in his original trilogy if C-3PO never had his memory wiped.

Re the mole... not really sure. They said there was a tracking device placed in Mando's ship, but that got blown up.
Could the gearshift knob be a bug? That's the only thing that seems to have survived destruction, and now Mando carries it everywhere. Remember, Cold War tech was small enough to stick a bug in a telephone receiver, you'd think Star Wars tech could do it too.

the bug was in the Razer Crest. thats how they found them on Tython. why do you think there is still a bug?

If that's the case, R2 will practically do flips when he sees Ahsoka.

He was on the bridge when they landed.

Mando sent him a warning message that he was coming for grogu... Moff thought there was some tomfoolery going on with the slave 1 chasing their ship coming in for emergency landing. Moff knew he was with others already and it probs isn’t his first rodeo.

Yeah the droids have been legit and their toys are as well, but nothing about the sequels has inspired anything long lasting. Even the music for the sequel sucked arse.
The prequels each had at least piece of music that will be remembered for decades. Did Poe or Finn even have themes? I will say the music for The Mandalorian is great.

But Gideon bragged to Mando about knowing all of his information. He even knew that he used the last of his little rockets that shot out of his arm.

I may hijack the thread: is there any chance Luke is the Jedi who answers Grogu’s signal from the stone? He’d still be 10-15 years away from his falling out with Ben Solo. What’s he got better to do right now? Not like Mark Hamill is otherwise busy.
Nicely done.

Or will he stay in the middle and use the power to take revenge on anyone that crossed him before?
Jabba's remaining crew leaving him for dead are literally the only ones who ever be described as having crossed Fett and lived to tell the tale.

Hamill had a voice cameo in another episode.
He's also voiced mystery cameos in all 3 Skywalker saga trilogies. I don't know about Rogue One/Solo.

Holy fricking shite
With live-action Thrawn setting up to be the Big Bad for the whole series, now that we have Boba Fett surviving the Sarlacc and back in his armor, the only thing left on my SW wish list is for them to make Mara Jade canon.

They missed one thing.... Din giving Grogru the knob from the Razor Crest after they set it up with that scene of Din finding it in the wreckage.
I was waiting for Mando to hold it up and Grogu force take it just before the elevator door closed.

Couldn't be.
Moff knew Mando's real name back in season 1 as well as the name's of everyone else in the bar who all fought Moff and his troopers to the death.
It'll be interesting to see how so many questions are answered - if at all.
We know someone took Grogu from the Temple but do we know who hired all those people to protect him in Season 1 where Mando found him to collect the bounty?
Was it the Jedi that rescued him and left him there for protection while they went off to do something else? Did the Jedi that rescued him lose him at some point? How did Moff know who/where Grogu was to have a bounty put on him in the first place?
