O wasn’t exactly doing well with fan support before last year.

Except he won 10 games and a NY6 bowl?

Funny how when LSU is winning everyone loves the HC but when LSU struggles everyone jumps ship. Why is this?
are you not familiar with high-level sports?

O is paid MILLIONS of dollars. With that comes an expectation to actually earn his money and win games.

Of course, last year was phenomenal, but we're all wondering whether it was a Burrow-Brady anomaly. This year is an unmitigated disaster, and is completely unacceptable.

And nobody's jumping ship. The reason we're bitching is that we care about the state of the program.

One exceptional year was great, but it's gone, and we expect to continue to be an elite team. And this year, we're among the worst.

O has earned at least one more year and he will get it. From there it's all on him!

O model works fine

I've always hated the model and think it's a stupid idea.

that means a 9-3 regular season. That's good, but not what we were sold on. And not acceptable for a program striving to be elite and in the hunt for championships most years.

Your post should say “one great season and everybody loves him”. His body of work implies last year was a fluke and this is the norm.

2018 wasn’t a bad season but we lost to all our biggest rivals and got destroyed by Bama after the whole “we comin” thing. People were still divided over O.

Typical LSU response. Always want something new. The millennial way

I’ve been a fan since the 60s and every year until he called it quits it was always “help Mac pack.” It’s not just a millennial thing, it’s the LSU fans way of life.

the O model could work

Not long term. People confuse the CEO model as just hiring assistants and throwing them out there to do their thing. As opposed to the real CEO model that says you have a certain amount of autonomy as long as you operate using a certain framework and philosophy. See Saban, Nick.

This is why the Canada thing went bad. If O had a philosophy, he would never have made the hire. People will say well what about last season? Ok fine, then you go find Brady 2.0, instead of riding with middling arse Linehan. Maybe you miss, but you miss for the right reasons and imo your chances of missing go way down.

“I was disappointed with the offensive game plan” I.e he didn’t know what it was. A real CEO knows where the limo is going even if he isn’t driving.

I agree with all of this and have stated it before. I was simply making a case for what O has to do to keep his job past next year.

I hear you and I agree. He has to hit it right down the middle this time.

I’m going to preface this by saying O is safe and deserves the chance to right the ship because of last year and he will not be fired this year unless something drastic comes out with this sexual assault coverup investigation.

However, it’s not that now that he’s losing people are gunning for him. It’s that he was a very polarizing hire. Majority of the fan base wanted a big splash hire and our AD mishandled the coaching search and then hired O. The fan base was split of those who wanted him to have the job and those who felt he didn’t deserve the job and wanting him out.

Last year was great but we have done a complete 180 and half the fan base who didn’t want him to get the job feel betrayed and anger over how poor we are and his failed hires and his celebrity like fetish.

It’s not that he was supported and now not because we are losing. Also we should never accept a losing season or multiple 30 point blowouts in a single season.

The issue is that he’s made the wrong decision on every occasion between the NC and now.

When you show that much incompetence, it strongly suggests that the success was due to all the people that left, not O.

Time will tell, he will get at least one more shot at it next year.

I’ve been a strong O supporter since day 1 btw.

O has failed at the only thing he’s supposed to be good at. He has mismanaged this roster. Glaring numbers, evaluation and or development issues on the OL and the defensive front seven. This roster is all his, and he’s failed to fill the gaps this roster needs. That’s bad recruiting

This whole college football season is no where near normal.

It's not every hire between the NC and now, it's literally every hire other than Brady.

He's hit on 1 of 6 or 7 hires. That's a problem.

Never did support him. This dumpster fire just shows he never was capable of being a big time coach and last year was pure luck
