During the game last night, someone pointed out that the 2018 class was killing us. LSU signed 25 recruits in 2018. 3 were transfers and 3 came from JUCO. Currently there are only 9 left of the team and only 4 who see meaningful action.

Yeah. Not what you want to see.

The unmitigated disaster of the 18 class is magnified by the quality talent we lost after last season. Everyone is quick to point out how many players we lost but it wouldn’t be as bad if the 18 class wasn’t such a mess. That lands directly on the staff and marginalizes the “we lost so much” argument. At this level you can’t blow it like that.

too strong of a word for a class with three likely first round picks in it, one of them being maybe the best to ever do it at his position. Not enough depth or short at needed positions? Sure. But it's not an unmitigated disaster.

This season reminds me of DiNardo’s final season. By mid point, LSU had suffered very high attrition numbers.
Things are going to get very very bad at LSU in the next few seasons.

Class will have 8 or so nfl players in it when it’s said & done lol
Including best QB, WR, & K in LSU history

The class had some talent no doubt. Burrow was the best transfer recruit and n the history of the NCAA, but all of the players you named are gone already. The unusually high turnover in this class is the problem.

Yeah, “unmitigated disaster” is a little much. If anything, it was “mitigated” by going out and getting Joe Burrow and Cole Tracy in the transfer portal.
That said, it was a class that lacked any depth, and it was not a very good class by LSU standards. When you add that none of the top 3 recruits from that class are currently on the team (despite none of them being draft eligible yet), that’s a huge problem.

Falls squarely on O’s shoulders.

If LSU has chase, Marshall & Kelvin Joseph on the team it’s a totally different team
That doesn’t make it a poorly recruited class.
If you told me after a hard reset this offseason that guys like jaray Jenkins, rosenthal, Baskerville, Hines, & Clark end up in the nfl, I would not be shocked. Maybe Cam Wire too.
It’s still pretty unwritten.

Who recruits to retain players?

His point is these are the top 3 recruits in the class. They all left before playing 3 seasons. Them not being on the field causes younger, less developed talent to have to step up.

Kenan Jones would be the starting safety now if he hadn’t pouted about the position move and left. Missed out on a championship and will have no chance at the NFL now. Good decision Kenan.

The general rule among coaches is if 25% of recruits contribute in some form or fashion, it's considered a good class. Research shows that a majority of the recruits will fail to live up to expectations, never contribute at all or transfer out. It's a crap shoot when it comes to recruiting!

Where did he go and what position is he playing?
Ull or something,right?
Think he was #21 as a safety. He looked good in spring practice

Only 3 starters from 2019 remain.

Not very good recruiting & vetting by some coaches -
