How would that impact college football?
I think I could pull for LSU just as hard if we got back to real student athletes.
Take some of the money out of the college game.
Football has fallen off the cliff as much as basketball yet but this opt in, opt out, transfer portal, pay to play crap is taking us further and further down the tube I think.

Then you would have more players leaving to get into the mill for a pro career.

Yes.
Draft 4 & 5 star players out of HS & put them in the minors just like MLB does. Pay them a decent salary while they work toward the NFL where they get big money.
Take the 2 & 3 star players & develop them over 4/5 seasons into solid college players. They leave with an education whether they make the league or not.
Would all but eliminate recruiting scandals.

No. Hey let’s just end college football period. That is what we are seeing now. The media has pushed this agenda for the last decade now. The sports agents are now pushing it that is why players are quitting on their teams. College football is done!

Like watch?
No.
Our football would be worse.
Take more talent.
Has it?
Did you not enjoy last year?
No.

No, covid madness has shown me other more rewarding ways to entertain myself. If anything, i’m watching less football every year.

Would all but eliminate the quality of college football also. If you all wish to see this then I am sure LSU has some intramural sports you can go watch. A minor league system would destroy college football as we know it. Considering how important college football revenue is to athletic programs as a whole, there would be a huge ripple effect that would severely impact many other men’s and women’s collegiate sports.

Really? Do u enjoy this year let’s just end athletic scholarships. College is for higher learning not sports just turn American football into European type soccer leagues that what u dumb arse’s are pushing for. There is no such thing as “ college teams in Europe is that what y’all want?

Depends on how “quality of play” is defined.
Over the years a good number of 3-star kids have come through LSU & developed into pretty solid players.
Look at what some of the B10 teams are able to do without having 4/5 star recruits filling their rosters.
Kids that just want to get to the league shouldn’t have to go through 3 years of college to get there, especially if they come from tough situations.

I wouldn't watch it.
I only watch college football because of the connection to the universities. Take that away, and it's just a poor product.

You’re having what’s called a tantrum.
College football is mostly the same as last year when you loved it because we were good and winning.

Yea for some reason I don't think guys will be too excited to play for way less than they would get in the big leagues while still taking the same punishment and knocking years off of their earning potential. Oh, wait. Disregard.

This didn’t work with NFL Europe. The AAF and XFL collapsed. The CFL is a waste of time. Why would it be any different now? This isn’t like the G-League in hoops, playing in small venues with 15 man rosters with a small staff. Football costs big money and even with the NFL behind it, a dev league will lose money.
Why would the NFL do this if they get it all for free right now?

And? College was never intended to be about sports. They are extracurricular activities.

What would the pay scale be?
If it's anything comparable to the NBA and MLB "minor leagues", you're taking a pretty big pay cut by foregoing college for that type of money.
Not to mention if you get hurt, you at least still have the scholarship to complete your education.

This year should be the kick in the arse the NCAA needs to go ahead and implement the new rules allowing players to profit from sponsorships for their likenesses. That should balance things back out and incentivize most players to stay in school until their draft status is a sure that. It will also help a lot of smaller school athletes in all sports out, as well.
Posted on 11/29/20 at 8:56 pm to SammyTiger
No it’s not. The media has pushed the pay for play agenda to the point where the players and apparently u agree. So u have quitting. The only solution is end scholarships for sports and crate minor league football

A concept that has proven to not be viable on many occasions, including when the NFL backed one.

If by support you mean spend money on it, probably not. If by support you mean watch it, still probably not.
