Was Chase really a better WR than Jefferson?

Or was his greater production more a result of his lining up on the outside on offense and being the recipient of more deep throws?

As well all know Jets has been absolutely killing it during his first NFL season. I am starting to wonder if he will make the Pro Bowl as a rookie. Hard to imagine Chase will have a better rookie year next year. LINK

Jefferson was awesome last year for us and is killing it in the NFL but no reason to downgrade how good Chase was last year. Chase was our best receiver last year. He’s got great hands, high points the ball extremely well and is stronger and better after the catch than Jefferson.

Jefferson is a shifty and quicker receiver than Chase and is better suited for short option routes and crosses.

Again both were great last year but don’t need to downgrade Chase to elevate Jefferson. Chase dominated the best Corners last year all year.

Very true but he also saw very few double teams due to safeties having to pay so much attention to Jefferson over the middle. Not taking anything away from Chase but I just think people had it as a foregone conclusion that Chase was better than Jets. Jets stats werent that much worse than Chase and Jets has so far been the best rookie WR in the NFL (and one of the best WRs overall).

Getting open deep isn’t exactly easy, and you could argue Jefferson’s production is a product of getting favorable matchups in the slot.

They’re both very very good.

Guys Chase dominated last year are starting in the NFL and playing well.

Chances are Chase will end up on a not so good team. Jefferson went lower but went to a good team.

I have no reason to knock on Jefferson, and I won’t

He’s all that

But when we had to have it, we went to Chase. Hands, body control, the total package

Too many examples to name. And it wasn’t just winning one on ones outside

We screened him and hit him on quick slants

I hate that Smith has earned the right to be drafted ahead of him, but watching our offense this year won’t allow me to hold sitting out against him

I still think Chase would be my first pick at ANY position. I REALLY hope the Bengals take him, even over an OL-men

Oh it is?

At WR, they will just say, “oh, well we can just get one later”. It’s all about value. Why get Jefferson in the 1st when you can get a similar player in the 4th?

The more I study Jefferson and study past drafts and this draft class, I do think he is on the path to drop into the 2nd, and maybe even the 3rd rd.

The good news for him is he has a niche, and the nfl is more specialized than ever. So hopefully a team recognizes him talents & knows how they want to use him.

I think they are two different types of receivers. Chase was a smooth route-running WR that really thrived in one-on-one situations, particularly when you needed someone to go up and get the ball. Jefferson was your blue-collar receiver that wasn't afraid to run across the middle and was excellent in finding open pockets. Both are extremely talented, but they just found success in different ways.

I think that Jefferson, Chase and Marshall will all show out at the NFL level.

I’d be willing to bet that Burrow will advise them to take Chase if he’s available and go from there in so far as acquiring OL

Bengals line could be one free agent or 2nd round pick from the playoffs

What Burrow and Chase have you can’t coach

You should find my posts from his sophomore year when I said he was a threat to go pro early, when no one else realized how good he was.

Those were fun.

Marshall is absolutely talented enough to be a #1.

Jefferson is a monster against zone coverage. He's a smooth running incredibly smart receiver.

Chase is a man coverage nightmare

Marshall is a mix of the two.

Chase will likely go to a significantly worse situation than Jefferson though
