Border collie would nip their heels when he was young but we broke him of it.

Yes. 3 year old healthy house dog we'd raised from 8 wks old. Totally unprovoked and went after my then 9 year old. I witnessed it. Zero reason to snap. I shot the dog that day and would do it again. Anyone who keeps a dog that bites is completely irresponsible.

My pit bull is the most child tolerant dog I have ever been around. She gets jumped on, ears pulled, tail stepped on, cat bites and scratches her. She has never once shown aggression or anger, she just wants to play and get attention. My dad, who hates dogs, swore I was making the biggest mistake ever, now he loves her to death.

Best buds
Same dog, it’s all about genetics and treating both human and four legged correctly.

My 8 month old chocolate lab has placed some good bites on the kids.
He is a good boy, dindu nuffin. Brown dogs matter

My parents’ chocolate lab bites her bone. That dog wouldn’t hurt a fly.

That dog looks terrified. Why do you hit it?

Chihuahuas probably do it more often than either. I hate those mean little bastards.

I had this terrier mix - I think technically an Australian terrier - growing up - there was a rental house next door and one of the tenants wanted to have a ‘play date’ between my dog and her dog (white German shepherd) - well my dog was not interested
So she snapped at the big dog and the lady next door freaked out while we laughed (because her dog cowered and it was twice the size of mine)
My dog also gently put her mouth on the annoying little shite I used to baby sit - he kept pulling her ears so she put her mouth on his hand and placed it in his lap - the kid wailed he was bit but there weren’t any teeth marks
But that’s it RIP little doggie, she was great

In agreement on Chihuahuas.
Especially the 're-homed' ones. Maybe it's their tiny brains.
A friend's inlaws had a rehomed one. Mean little dog, bit both of them. FIL died. She was alone in the house, a fire broke out, she called the dog to come with her, as usual, he ignored her., she went back, they both died. From the site, she had unlocked the closest door, put her purse on the front step and gone back in..

My dog has barked once in 12 years, and has never growled. It doesn't matter how much you mess with him, all he will do is either lick you or just walk away. I think I found the reincarnated spirit of a benzo-riddled Buddhist monk.

Had a lab that did and eventually would growl/show teeth any time he was in the same room with my 1 1/2 yr old.
Gave him away. It was though but had to be done.
My boxer/Doberman mix caught a niece on the lip once but that was more self defense. He was laying down and one girl was hugging around the neck and another came up behind him and jumped right onto his stomach knees first. I couldn’t blame him too much on that one.
He’s great with my boys though.

It was my crazy Great Aunt who had 2 or 3 of them. This was when I was a little kid, I do not ever think I petted one. They were constantly mean.
The aunt also had a severely retarded daughter ( not a sweet natured Downs kid, a full blown "the 1940's doctor fricked up the childbirth" monster) and the other daughter was a very masculine lesbian.
I understood none of this when I was 6 or 7, just knew it was horrifying.

My doberman is just like that.

Our mixed Husky/Shepherd once turned sharply, growled, and smacked my toddler grandson with his shout. Not a bite but let him know not to mess with him while he had a rawhide chew. The toddler had grabbed his back.
I was upset about the dog doing that and watched him more closely afterwards.
