We have a similar issue. My mom is pretty frail. We have had some crossings w Covid in our day to day. Also we live our lives without many precautions, kids sports, gatherings. Etc.
With this uptick we kinda feel like it would be prudent to stay home, but don’t want to disappoint people. But we ain’t fighting about it.

hey man this sucks for sure, but allow me to one up you. i stayed in a marriage for way too long where my wife wouldn't have sex with me because there was an emoitional disconnect. six years. what a big difference in one letter (i vs. e) matters.
i had to put up with shite like you described without being afforded the opportunity to become close (intimate) with my wife. i don't recommend it.
