Do some searching on other SxS threads we've had, lot of insight there.

Depends on what you're going to use it for. For hunting, Polaris has had the market forever but Honda, Yamaha, CanAm, etc. are taking chunks out of that market rapidly.

Been a big fan of my 2018 Honda Pioneer 700 for all things waterfowl hunting at a rice farm.

For just hunting, nothing beats the honda pioneer 500 just because of it's size. Suspension sucks. It shifts weird. It's low on power. But you could drive around all kinds of shite in the woods that the big ones had to drive through.

If you need a bigger one, viking or mule.

The one I want to borrow is the new yamaha. Supposedly they finally made something with a dump bed that will still do more than 50.

Full disclosure, I'm team polaris at the moment.

I just bought a Mule Pro-MX. I researched for a year before purchase.

It’s a wide 2-seater with a 700 cc motor and power steering. 3 year warranty from the factory.

It’s great for hunting the piney woods. I haven’t had it in a situation where I needed 4 wd yet.

We have a Mule that has to be about 8 years old now. After seeing the abuse that thing has taken I'm a believer now. It's been a rough life for that old machine, but has never had a major malfunction. It was money well spent.

FWIW

I have a 16 ranger 900 XP. If I were in the market right now for a new one I would be buying a can-am defender.

In the end, you will get a mixed bag of opinions. Do your research, drive and test, buy what suits you and you like.

I have had no issues with my Polaris, I dont run it hard, and not in a lot of mud, but it has been trouble free for 6 years.

Have an 08 Rhino and a 17 Terex. The Rhino is the baddest atv ever made, besides a 300 Honda. The Terex is a reliable rig. Not the best ride but it’s been tough. If I was buying I would get new Yamaha Viking.

I can tell you that I will not own another Ranger unless something is changed. They are meant to go fast, but go to pieces or die.

We have almost every rig made at the farm and abuse the hell out of them. I like driving the Rangers, but they are without a doubt the worst maintenance wise. Constantly having issues with belts, cv joints etc. for durability I would rank them as follows:

Yamaha
Kawasaki
Honda

Can Am

Polaris

I just sold my 570 ranger will never own another polaris. Electrical nightmare & front differential issues.

I have my eye on the Pioneer 700-4 & 1000-5 mainly because of the full size cargo bed that converts to seats so i can ride the kids around.

I always first think of shotguns when I see a thread title like this. Guess I'm showing my age.

Completely happy with my Honda Pioneer 700. I’ve always been a Polaris guy but I’ve watched that swamp I hunt in chew up Polaris (& Can Am) while the Honda guys kept on trucking.

The only piece of advice I would strongly suggest with Honda is don’t ignore the valve adjustment with the first service. My buddy never had his adjusted and after about 600 hours it ruined his engine.
