My guess is they are doing this to cover their own asses with a potential law suit. If someone who has covid goes to a concert where they infect people, maybe Ticketmaster can be brought into a suit where they're held liable for providing entry to someone who has the virus.
It's a definite reach, but frick it's 2020. You can get sued for coughing in a racist tone.

Somebody help me here. If the vaccine is readily available and I get vaccinated why would I care if everyone there had the virus. If I don’t get the vaccine, isn’t it my fault for going to the event.

I'm not going to get the vaccine but I do go to 41+ Preds game a season at Bridgestone Arena. Those are TM tickets using their app with a barcode that changes every few seconds.
They done away with QR codes and before that paper tickets.
