I am going to S.Carolina this year, and i am thinking about going to auburn. I've heard from a couple of people that its not a good time. Any help or thoughts would appreciated.

Thanks

Well, it just depends. The one and only time we went it was a day game and it rained and we lost miserably.

I have no fond memories of that trip!

I'm going to S. Carolina this year too, and debated an Auburn trip as well...

When it came down to it, I've been there twice (2002, 2004) and while it's a good time, I wouldn't be doing anything there I hadn't done before...

So if you've never been, make the effort and head there (if you can't make it to Gainesville)...

However, there are better SEC trips to make (read: Athens next year)

The Auburn games have been some of the best ones over the last 5 or so years. I would love to have my butt in that stadium to witness the game this year.

If, when walking on campus (a dirt road next to a cow patty smelling 'plains'), and want to be nearly purposefully nearly ran over by a jacked up truck with KC lights, then you'll have a blast.

drock: I have been to gainesville and that is a great trip. UF fans get it. Although the tailgating is totally different, they respect LSU now and its an awesome atmosphere!

I've always wanted to go to auburn and i finally get my wish this year.

I'd say def go cause like said before it's always a good game. The only downside is that it's been friggin forever since we won there. That being said, we're due for a win in Aubieland.

I am going this year. I have no idea what to expect.

Do LSU fans go out the night before the game? Where?

Where do people tailgate on the day of the game? Are Auburn fans friendly, or should I prepare to be physically assaulted (see, e.g., Gainsville)?

I've been to Auburn, and thought it was a great trip...I'm sure the fact that we won had something to do with that. We were up there when they had that fire behind the stadium. I thought everybody we met up there was pretty cool to us.

hmmm...help and advice.

well, if you are a LSU football fan looking to go support your team, i would sort of think that going to a game that will likely decide the SEC west would be a pretty 'good time'.

Auburn is a better trip than Columbia by far.

Columbia is a crappy city & a crappy gameday atmosphere.

Stadium being off campus doesn't help either.

nowhere in the SEC is like that cess pool in the armpit of florida.

the auburn fans have always been cordial...some of the campus police types try to act like turds. in all the trips up there i only recall one problem on a friday night with some students making a lot of racket by the RVs at 3-4 AM.

florida fans are a bunch of low class riff-raff who would fit in much better in the big 10 than the sec.

i disagree with that on columbia. they had a nice setup with lots of parking close to the stadium. the folks were very friendly and knowledgable football fans.

i do think that they were somewhat shocked by us....many told me that from stories they heard they thought we were going to be like florida fans!

oh, they hate florida fans.

well...assuming you do live in Mandeville...that means that you are only 5 hours away from Auburn....MSU, Ole Miss, Auburn, and Bama are the only places in the SEC that you can get to from the Northshore in 5 hours or less from Mandeville....

so I would say out purely out of convince for you...yes it would be worth it...

Honestly,I hate going to Auburn. Hate to say it but Tuscaloosa is 2x than Auburn. I guess the Auburn fans who don't go to Baton Rouge hear all of the 'horror stories' and feel the need to return the favor. After the 2004 game, jackass campus cop wouldn't even help with directions. If we lose,be careful walking out of the stadium behind their student section,or at least cover your head. All kinds of crap is tossed down on those in P&G.

Surprised to hear you say we hate Florida fans. The fanbase we really hate is Georgia. That damn barking gets old really fast.

Other than the fact LSU manhandled our team, we really enjoyed your visit in 2003. LSU fans really represented, especially considering how long the trip is.

Atmosphere will be different this time. The stinkin' State Fair is in town and that really screws up the tailgating.
