Is O gone if there isn't a drastic improvement next season?

No matter what happens this season O isn't getting fired. He just won a NC, money is tight in the AD, and the circumstances for this season have been extraordinary. We can argue all day on if he deserves to be fired or not if we lose out, but it's not gonna happen.

What about next season though? What if we do just as bad and only win 2-4 games? What kind of record does O need to have in 2021 to remain safe?

If we win 2-4 games with cupcake games scheduled like a regular season.. he’s gotta go

But we gotta give him a shot to rebuild after last year

No. After 2022 season is earliest O would be fired IMO

Orgeron's buyout equals out to 70% of the salary remaining on the entire contract. If LSU were to terminate Orgeron's contract in the first year (2020) his buyout would be about $27 million; in the second year (2021), about $21 million; in the third (2022), $16.8 million; in the fourth (2023), $12.6 million; in the fifth (2024), $8.4 million; and in the final year (2025), $4.2 million. 6-6, 7-5 are realistic predictions. That will not get him fired nor should it but would start him with a hot seat in '22.

You think people are going to put up with 4 more years of this?

What are they going to do about it? He just "coached" the greatest CFB team ever last year. You honestly think he will get canned anytime soon?

If next year looks as bad as this year, you gotta fire him.

Isn’t a big portion of his salary tied to his insurance policy?

Last season was an extreme outlier of coach O’s capabilities. Outside of last years he’s been terrible. No ones going to accept 4 more years of this shite dumbass

I would pay more attention to his recruiting classes. There is no way we suck this bad next year so if he keeps these top kids committing we will get back to where we want to be sooner rather than later. If they jump ship even in this cycle might as well just fire him because the cubbards are bare and he is not winning without new talent.

This! The 2018 class was hot garbage. Only four guys from that class are difference makers compared to about 15 guys in the 2017 class. 2019, 2020, and 21 (shaping up) are very good classes. The 2020 class looks like it could be another 2017.

Four games into 2020’s career and its already produced a stud corner, pass catcher, and edge guy. And seemingly a very good qb with tools. Those are huge cornerstones to build around going forward. Not to mention the others starting to contribute in Roy, Boutte, Moore, and Toles.

He's on thin frickin ice right now. He gets next year but that's it for me. Hopefully we have the funds by then.

So 2018 going 10-3 (Aggie frickery should have been 11-2) with a NY6 Victory is terrible?

good lord almightly.

It's "cupboards." A cabinet. For storing things. When the cupboard is bare, it means it's empty.

I believe he can't lose more than 5 regular season games next year or he's gone. It'll pretty much show you that he's nothing without Burrow and Aranda.

hate to keep going to this well, but Gene Chizik. Only two years after an undefeated team with the greatest single season performance by a player, he was let go. The very next year after that, Auburn was in the national championship game and lost on the final drive with a first year Gus, and first year QB.

If Ed has a losing season again next year there is no way in hell he is here in 2022.
