Players make coaches look smart, all coaches say that.
But lets be clear, Belichick taking Brady on a flier in the 6th round isn't like Bill Walsh going out on a limb and taking Jerry Rice from tiny MVSU in the 1st round or even Joe Montana in the 3rd round.
Belichick's drafts have been pretty abysmal over the yeras.

Wouldn't that make the on field results more impressive?

The statistics don’t lie. Bill’s record without Brady is a losing one. Moreover, his current situation of lack of talent is on who? He’s the GM too.
People are foolish to look at this as an issue of this year. Brady’s current success with the Bucs has nothing to do with it.
Bill has consistently made poor draft and free agent signings, especially as of late.
Bottom line, we have his record with Brady and without him to frame relevance. It’s significantly different.

Not when you look at his patriots record when Brady was not gonna on the field.

Marty Shotteheimer had that same "bad " Modell ownership ( since thats your excuse for Belichick losing) & took over the 1-7 / 5-11 Browns who had 1 winning season in 5 years.
not an excuse, a factor but Marty took over in 1985, they were 5-11 in 1984, 9-7, 4-5 (strike year), 5-11, 11-5, 9-7, 8-8 under Sam Rutigliano.

Marty went to 2 AFC Championships & we all know he was a couple plays from 2 SBs. Despite that horrible/ meddling Modell
Mary left because of Modell's meddling

The Franchise Belichick coached has had success before & after him & has nothing to do with the expansion Browns was the only point I was making.
i agree with you and pointed the same thing out, that those Browns aren't the same as the current Browns.
Where i disagree is you are making sound like the franchise was only unsuccessful with BB which is false, they had some success, mostly with Marty who left because the owner was meddling . Otherwise it was a pretty mediocre franchise and BB record was not an outlier.

Sounds like excuses to me. Marty's 4 seasons after taking over the 1-7/ 5-11 Browns with the meddling owner :
No losing seasons. 4 playoff appearances. 3 Division titles( another 2nd place finish). 2 AFC Championship games .
of course its sounds like excuses because you have a narrative you want to put forth , You also don't seem to understand that things and people change over time or understand the reason why Marty left after 4 successful seasons

His record without Brady in 2008 and 2016 was 14-6, so just taking his Browns record, his first year in NE and this year is skewing things.
But yes any current roster issues are on Bill but can't know if this year is what they will be like going forward or just a down year.

No, but you can't go from Brady to Newton and expect to win.
Which basically dispels the notion that any QB could step onto that field and do what Brady did with the offense in New England. While it's true the Patriots have a lot of opt outs on defense, the offense remains virtually the same one that Brady ran last year. Even with the abysmal talent surrounding him, Brady still managed to pass for over 4,000 yards while also throwing 24 TDs to just 8 INTs. So far this year, New England's QBs have combined for less than 1,000 yards, 3 TDs, and 11 INTs.
Barring something unforeseen, Brady is likely going to pass for over 4,000 yards and 30 TDs at the age of 43. That's nuts. I don't care that he's got all that talent around him, he still needs an arm to get it to them. And surprisingly, even at his age, he still has zip and accuracy.

Beli was going to win that first Super Bowl with Bledsoe or Brady. they were great before Brady took over.

The argument was could Brees/manning/ Rogers win with the team(read top 5 defense) that Brady had. Matt Cassell was right at average and could produce wins. Jimmy G was average and can produce wins
The argument that potentially the league worst QB could win Super Bowls is absurd. It stemmed around using Brady’s rings to put him over Brees/ manning/Rogers when he had the far better defense

Not to mention he spied on other teams.

They were 5-11 the year before Brady took over and 0-2 the year Brady did take over.

and 11-5 in 2008 and 3-1 in 2016 without him, also went 6-7 after a 3-0 start in Brady's second year and started 0-1 with a 31-0 loss to open the 2003 season which they started 2-2.

He was turning around the Browns, Model's move ruined their season and he was made the scapegoat. Ravens win many more SBs with him instead if Billick

In his defense he picked the worst QB for the job. I mean he is so dumb that in college they had to boil play calling down to no more than two color cards or he would screw the play up.

Oddly enough my two favorite Wolverine's of all time involved in that play, those guys are buddies.
Posted on 10/27/20 at 6:36 am to DeltaDoc
He’s the last guy to win 10 games in Cleveland.
Posted on 10/27/20 at 8:15 am to DeltaDoc
Let’s pump the brakes and give the guy a season or two to make some moves. Brady fell into a great opportunity with TB and the supporting cast. Meanwhile Bellichek has had half his team opt out and is stuck with a broke Newton.
Posted on 10/27/20 at 8:22 am to TrouserTrout
There’s only 1 opt out that has effected the season
