Honda Accord drivers - likes and dislikes of the car?

Thinking of trading in my gas guzzler since I’m starting to drive more for work. Really like the look of the accord way more than the Camry. How is the ride? Smooth? Loud? Going to be mostly highway driving. I like the exterior of the new RAV4 but am not a big fan of the interior. Any other suggestions?

Wife had one for years. Excellent car. Leather, sunroof, etc. V6 and it would fly but still great on gas.

Good rider...good gas mileage....it's a good car at a good price.

I’m considering the hybrid, not sure if it’s worth the extra 4K through.

Get whichever one doesn’t have a CVT

Hoes drive Hondas was the saying in highschool.
It's true too. Lots of hoes can be found in the driver seat of a Honda.

Is this a known problem with Honda’s? I’ve never had one before.

I have bought each of the little Füts a new Honda Accord sedan during their Junior years of college.
Each of them has kept their car for at least five years past that point.
Fifteen years plus and over two hundred thousand miles on three separate vehicles.
I have spent zero dollars on repairs* to any of their vehicles and had zero warranty issues with any of those vehicles.
They are wonderful vehicles.
*Obviously Oil Changes, Tires, Brakes. etc., are not included in this null set.

CVTs tend to have issues a few years down the road generally speaking. Not to mention the drone and rubber band acceleration.

I owned an Accord in the 1990’s. It was very attractive and got lots of comments.
The clear coat on the paint failed within the first couple of years.
At 90k miles, the engine would randomly shut down. The diagnosis was that there was carbon buildup in the valves (maybe cylinders is the right term - I’m no mechanic) and the repair was very expensive. The only explanation they had was that I used “bad gas.” I passed on the repair and bought a Toyota.
I realize that my experience was far from ordinary but I haven’t been able to convince myself to buy another Honda.

My wife has a 2012 Accord. Only complaints are both of the keys fell apart. These are the kind with the buttons on the key and not a fob. She doesn't particularly like the radio/entertainment system. Mechanically it's been fine.

I am 60 and have had 3 through the years. Just a great car. Keep up with basic maintenance and you will be very happy.

It depends on which generation you are asking about.
Late model accords have turbos and the long term reliability is not what the normally aspirated models have. Honda still has trouble with their VCM technology in the V6.
Accords tend to have low travel and are stiffly sprung. A few years ago Honda decided to do away with their well engineered double wishbone rear suspension and replaced it with struts, an obvious cost saving measure that sacrificed ride quality and introduced some rear tire wear problems.
This is coming from a person who owned a 1997 Accord for 20 years and drove and researched the newer models when I sold off that car.
Honda is building cars globally for a price point and I don't believe the company is what they were 20 years ago.
Our 2008 Honda Odyssey which we still have has had lots of repairs and recalls. Our 2016 Sienna is a better car (not just because it is newer).
I would steer towards a Toyota over the Honda.
Whatever you shop for drive one and make sure they let you get it on the interstate during the drive.

I drive a 19 Accord Sport 2.0T for work. I bought new off the lot and have about 22K miles now.
Pros:
2.0 T is fast and fun to drive.
10 speed auto is smooth shifting (the 1.5T comes with a CVT)
Gets 35-38 mph on hwy
Roomy and generally comfortable for tall people.
Good infotainment and a/c controls.
Refined interior, tight seams, good materials.
Looks good, especially with the sport package with 19 inch wheels.
Great price point. 2.0T Sport comes out just over $30K. Alot of car for that price.
Honda customer service has been exceptional.
Cons:
Sport wheel tires are thin, so ride quality is largely dependent on road conditions
Moderate road noise at higher speeds
Stock radio sound quality sucks, need to supplement with aftermarket sub
Moderate turbo lag if you punch it.
City MPG can drop to low 20's, especially with a heavy foot
Small gas tank, only about 12.5 gals so frequent fill ups.
Exterior paint chips easily (at least the black does).

My sister had one for 16 years - it’s probably still running somewhere - it was a great vehicle and I should’ve bought it from her to give to my kids
The water pump went out and she sold it for like $600 bc she wanted a new car
Ragrets

I had a Honda Civic.
Clear coat separated from the paint after a few years. I would think all models would use the same paint... at least brand?
Warranty was good but... they would not redo the entire car at the same time. Every time the clear coat separated, I had to take the car into the shop to get that section of car redone.
I would google "any known warranty issues with Honda, Honda Accord..." or any other key words you can think of. I didn't do this and service manager told me that Honda has known for years about the paint/clear coat issue.
I've never had another car brand do this when the car was just a few years old.

Are the new models still having paint issues?
