These threads are great in moderation. You’re starting to saturate your own market.

Over the last few weeks, there’s been so much garbage on the OT, it’s hardly even worth reading anymore. It’s like a garage sale in Livingston parish, all garbage.
I like my garage sale threads. I actually learn from them (the pipes in this thread for example).
People that reply to my threads, even though it had “garage sale” clearly in the title, and bitch about them are the idiots, plus they give me a free bump.

I have at least 50 of those metal thomas the train cars, prob more. Are those collectable?
I know I bought the grandson a shite load. He passed them on to another family member. Had the table and a shite load of extra tracks to go with it.

I’ve bought a few over the years, but they never bring more than $10-$15 each. I wouldn’t know how to date them.
That's about what most are worth. But the rare collectable ones, in good condition, can bring 200 to 500 - maybe a little more in a few cases.
Dating them is a little tricky. Pipephil has some decent info. Also The Collectors Guide to Kaywoodie's

I need to start going to garage sales, I love these threads and am always trolling Facebook Marketplace for things to flip, though it's usually fishing gear, bicycles, motorcycle parts, etc. Bikes were hot items during the pandemic. I bought a 10 year old Trek mountain bike out of someones shed for $50, washed it, put air in the tires and sold it for $225 12 hours later. Most recently I bought a 1989 Miyata Titanium road bike for $25, cleaned it, new tires and tubes, and sold it for $550.
My proudest recent find I'm keeping for our new house, I bought a 10' alligator Gyotaku print for $140 on NextDoor that was done by a lady from BR. She usually charges $1000+ for these. That one is going in my living room.

What's the deal with the three shoes? Are they kicking shoes or the guy who bought them is hung like a mofo?

Case in point, the underwear I have listed in the OP.
A month ago, I would have never even paid a split second looking at these. I’ve been watching videos of flippers on YouTube, and they all buy any packaged underwear they come across. I thought it was stupid until I looked them up on eBay. They bring BIG money.
When I found these seven packs last week, the lady was almost going to give them to me for free. I told her I couldn’t do that and I’d give her $30 for them. They have 5 bids on them right now, up to $96, but I’m thinking they are going to go over $200. Theres 20 watching the auction, and has had over 400 views.
One of the CK underwear is red. I’ve had two people ask me to end the auction and sell the red ones separately. They both offered me $50 for the red ones.

It’s two pair of Italian made bicycling shoes ($20 a pair), and they came with three sets of pedals and cleats. One pair was brand new, other pair was used.

Used to have to put my name on my underwear, but I was in the Marines at that time.

People do something similar called retail arbitrage with TJ Maxx and Marshalls and high value shoes that may make there way there.
To each his own.

How do you get views on your stuff? I'm trying to sell old comics on eBay, but the most views I ever get are like 20-30. Most have 4-5 views

But that’s for new stuff. These skivvies are from 1989-1994, new in package. That’s what makes these “collectible”.

Just depends on the item and how saturated it is on eBay.
The trolls and weird measuring thing only have less than 100 views, but both have bids on them.
I just looked, the underwear had nearly 500 views now. I don’t really expect an item to do well based on the views, usually I can tell if an item will do well according to the view/watch ratio. If something is averaging 1 watch to every 10 views, it always does well.

I guess people will collect just about anything.

Where do you go to garage sales at? Do you target certain areas?

Rich neighborhoods!!!
I’ve said it before, rich people buy nice stuff, and when they have garage sales, they have it for the intent garage sales were invented for, to get rid of clutter. Rich people want the stuff gone, not trying to make money, and they price their stuff low. I start at Highland Rd & I-10, head down Highland to LSU, go up to garden district, make my way over to old Jefferson.

Three legged people will pay top dollar not to have to buy 2 pairs at a time.
Question: How does a 3 legged person ride a bike? And does he really need a bike shoe for the 3rd leg?
IB4 all of the "3rd leg" jokes.

So do you just look at how much it's going for on eBay while you are looking through stuff or do you have all of these prices memorized?
