I know the general vote usually goes to democrats so most on this board won’t like this. But I honestly think some of that is people that live in certain states don’t vote bc they know the outcome anyway. Unless you live in 1 of about 7 states, your presidential vote doesn’t mean anything. I get states’ rights and all of that, and am on board with it, especially during Covid, republican run states/cities have shown to be vastly more common sensical and superior. But in a national election, it should be one person=one vote, regardless of what state you live in, who the president is affects us all equally.

You say this, but then want to give electoral control to 7, or so, cities.

Why campaign outside of LA, NYC, etc.?

So a popular vote decides the presidency? Not sure your logic here, but some of the dumbest deranged leftists I know agree with you.

1. It is one person / one vote

2. The electoral college is one of the most ingenious things ever devised in the furtherance of governance. Anyone wanting to eliminate that is suspect.

Sucks is kinda harsh. I mean, they didn’t have a Heisman QB, and win virtually every other award in the greatest season in college football, but they don’t suck...

The electoral college is brilliant and it ending will be the death of our republic. It’s of vital importance.

Would it though? No one person’s vote would count more than another’s

If you changed the electoral college to each state gets the vote of their population, so you get a “one person one vote” situation, fine. It wouldn’t have changed the outcome in 2016. Trump would have won by the exact same margin.

Why campaign outside of Ohio, Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania?

Clean up voter rolls and implement a National ID system, then this discussion could begin.

Do you think your vote would count more if New York and California decided all elections because of population density?

Do you want people that live in Manhattan that will never ever drive a car decide how much gasoline tax you should pay?

That's just stupid...

The whole point is to keep the strength of the nation in the nation. Destroying the EC effectively ends States, esp after giving Senators to the mob.
Imagine a US without the S...
No places to prove laws and whatnot.
No freedom from oppressive governments.
And on and on as power centralizes.

It just seems fair, in a national election, one person = one vote
