I hate to tell you this but 12 million viewers for a Saturday prime time game with #2 vs.#3 is not that good.....

Yeah, I'm sure LSU-Bama (#2 v #3) last year pulled a higher number than that, and it was a 330 EST kickoff.

For comparison's sake, 33 million people tuned in to watch Game Six of the 1998 NBA Finals (Jordan's last game with the Bulls). These are historically low ratings that have never been seen before.

How about comparing it to something other than that all time high like say the 2019 or 2018 Finals?

I know a lot of people want this narrative that the SJW/BLM messages are what’s killing them and I’m sure it doesn’t help but playing the Finals when they normally would be playing preseason games is a bigger factor imo

this board seems frequently more interested in discussing the ratings of sports than actual sports

do any of you homos actually watch games, or is sports just another extension of your politics

the modern world is so lame

It did

Generally 7/8pm on Saturday isn’t a great ratings time for sports

Revenues for the NBA are closer to the NHL than MLB by a significant margin but the NBA is supposedly a global league. Yeah okay.

It is.

The top NBA players earn significantly more than the top MLB players

Lebron 92.4 million.
Steph 85.2 million

Mike Trout 39 million
Bruce Harper 36.5 million

How exactly?

NBA players earn more money through endorsements because basketball is a much more popular sport worldwide right now.

The top NBA stars have a much higher name recognition than their MLB peers. Not even close.

It’s a sad deflection and false narrative you’re spinning here. The people you’re attempting to play “gotcha” with never said they didn’t care about the NBA before their alignment with China and terrorist groups. They mostly said they’d stop watching after that league decided to attack people based on political beliefs while shoving their own in people’s faces. You’re also ignoring that these people were absolutely correct in their predictions that fans would tune the NBA out or that the leagues commissioner has come out and said that they’ll be putting a stop to all the political posturing next season because of the hit they’ve taken. You were wrong, they were right and now you’re looking for petty talking points to save face.

The revenue argument is beyond retarded. There a bunch of inherit differences between the two that allow baseball to generate more money. To even begin to try to act like baseball is that much more popular in this country than the NBA is idiotic

This thread, and the other billion like it, reads exactly like the threads we had on in here in 2016 and 2017 about the decline in NFL ratings. People were absolutely convinced that kaep and those kneeling with him were going to completely kill the league. Look how that has turned out

I think you’re right, their revenue is about the same but the MLB season is twice as long in games played. I guess there’s an argument that the bottom line is the point but I think the context supports your take. The MLB and Manfred have ruined a big opportunity to get ahead of the NBA over the last few years and unless they change course quickly it’s going to pass maybe forever.
