Windhorst's Hoop Collective podcast discusses Jrue Holiday trades

On the latest Hoops collective they talk about trades for Paul, Oladipo, Beal, and Holiday.
They made it clear they were not breaking news at all. They talked to agents and executives just to get a gauge on if guys get moved what perceived value could be and what teams would be sniffing for each guy.
Windhorst says he is not convinced the Pelicans will move him, but that it is an option because of the contract etc. (duh)
Windhorst thinks he would be VERY valuable, and the guys specifically discussed:
The Nets: Levert, Prince, "young guy" not named Allen, Philly 2020 1st for JJ and Jrue...two of the guys said that was too light for us without Allen. They think he would be massively appealing to the Nets and could be a difference maker for them. They thought if the Pels pushed hard enough the Nets are in a position where they will have to give us pretty much whatever we want given their stars age etc.
Denver: Harris, Bol Bol, Houston 1st, Denver future 1st (2025ish). Again, other guys thought Brooklyn was infinitely more attractive in a package...duh, that package sucks. Nuggets have made it clear that MPJ "isn't available" so they think it would be difficult to make it happen.
They also thought Jrue could make sense to Dallas (Hardaway involved in it)
Obviously this is nothing earth shattering and already things we have discussed at length. Just thought everyone would want to know what was discussed.
I did not listen to the rest of the podcast so I don't have a clue if they discussed us being in play for the other guys (I doubt they did).

All else equal, trade him to an Eastern Conference team if at all.

I'd rather keep Jrue if that's the trade packages, especially Denver's. With that deal he's basically treating Jrue as a salary dump.

Sounds somewhat similar to a lot of the better speculation I have read on here.
Nets do seem like the most viable and mutually beneficial trade partners. With the Nuggets being a (barely)contender, then seemingly not a whole lot that is obviously apparent. Places he would fit but the teams lack the assets. MPJ perceived as untouchable kind of kills the Nuggets as they say, and pretty much all the speculation here assumes that wouldn’t be the case if I remember.
Personally I would do it. I know there are a ton of Jrue fans that will downvote to hell, but it really is a perfect opportunity to get massive value that would be more aligned with our time table while providing a landing spot for two really good guys that have done everything the right way and deserve to have that chance before they are simply over the hill and chasing a ring as a minimum vet bench warmer.

What happens with Jrue depends a lot on extension negotiations. If he's not interested in an extension or if he wants so much money he becomes a terrible contract, you probably need to move him.

I'm sure Griffin is having those convos with him and his agent.
I still am 100% convinced that Griffin will want to run it out there with JJ and Jrue on the team to try and convince them that we are a winning franchise, and if it isn't working out, try to trade them for what you can to a contender at the deadline. He's a "believe in us" type of guy.
But I'd definitely be looking out there if he's not signing an extension (which he is unlikely to do).

That’s going to really set the stage is my guess.
Because both Jrue and JJ can walk after next season and JJ has already hinted strongly at wanting to get on that ring chasing train. And I’m sure Jrue seeing his old teammate just win a ring has to be gnawing at his competitive spirit as well.
And it’s not entirely unrealistic that you either get something for them this season or JJ and Jrue walk onto the Nets or Clippers and you are banging your head for not getting something when you could have. Like when Demps was apparently turning down first round offers for Ryan Anderson by Houston and others his last couple seasons here and then he just left and signed with them.

Levert is always injured, Prince sucks and Allen (he can't shoot) wouldn't be able to play well alongside Zion. Nah.

Pretty sure Levert is signed through 22-23.
Edit: see you edited, yeah, Levert would be here for a while. The biggest issue with him is health. But healthy he could be a legit third star as he was already trending into a 20-5-5 player.

You originally said Levert is a Free Agent which he is not, he has 2 years left. He is a very good offensive player.
Prince isn't particularly good and is essentially salary filler / reclamation project. Allen is a very good rim protector. I don't mind him next to Zion, and if he isn't a fit, he will have value to other teams.

Luka and Jrue backcourt would be pretty interesting

It would from Dallas’s perspective, much like it would be a good fit for Portland, putting a defensive guard next to your offensive ball dominant scorer. Just don’t see how they have the assets.
Really feels like unless GS jumps into the fold, or Denver starts getting realistic and offering MPJ, Brooklyn would basically beat anyone’s offer. So it’s hard to even speculate about anywhere else.

Would you rather take a chance on a young guy averaging 20 mpg who may have had some injury issues or let our players walk and have no one there? Its common sense if JJ is gonna walk we send him out. If Jrue is gonna walk we send him out. ANYTHING we get is a positive considering they would be gone for free. I think we extend Jrue and he doesn't go anywhere tho.
Posted on 10/19/20 at 11:56 am to Dantheman504
I don’t know if we extend him or not, but I definitely could see the scenario of Griffin starting the season with a new coach and seeing how it all goes before making any moves nearer to the deadline.

I don’t know if I like the Brooklyn trade. LeVert is inconsistent at best. All of his best games have been in meaningless games while being the primary ball handler.
Unless MPJ is made available, I think you leave it up to Jrue on whether or not he wants to be traded. If he wants to go try and get a ring, by all means, make an effort to get him somewhere he can do that. He deserves that in my opinion.
This is of course assuming that Rivers doesn’t decide that he doesn’t want one of Embiid or Simmons. In that case, you go full force for either of them

I'd rather a mid season trade if it's going to happen. Then hopefully Joe Harris can be thrown into the asset mix in a Jrue/JJ trade.

I can see that too. I personally would rather get all the guys we want and start next season building that team. Its very possible the deals may not be there for Jrue or JJ yet.

Dude Joe harris is just a lesser version of Josh Hart. If we trade with Nets its gonna be a pick of Dinwiddie, Prince, Musa, Lavert assuming no Allen.

Harris is a career 42.6% 3 Point Shooter on a high volume. Hart is a career 35.3% 3 Point Shooter. I'd be looking at Harris to provide some of the gravity JJ does, not to be a lesser version of Hart.

Harris would be a replacement for JJ, and I don’t see why he and Hart couldn’t be on the floor together.
I’m also have a tough time imagining a Dinwiddie trade. He was a major reason why Kyrie went there and also helped with KD. With how much power the Nets have already given Kyrie and KD, I don’t think they will ship off Dinwiddie
