Seriously. The last Tom Hanks movie I actually enjoyed watching was Catch Me If You Can and that was what 2002.

Most of his movies the past decade have been dreadfully boring.

Tom Hanks has a thing for boomer-y fixations in his movies’ themes:

1. World War II - Saving Private Ryan/Greyhound
2. General Boomer Nostalgia - Forrest Gump
3. Cold War - Bridge of Spies
4. Newspapers - The Post
5. Yuppies - The Bonfire of the Vanities
6. Space Race - Apollo 13

Being tired of Tom Hanks is like being tired of Apple Pie. It’s anti-American.
Mr Apple Pie Tom Hanks is now Greek citizen.

Meh, lots of American celebrities with too much money and a lot of free time have dual citizenships:

Mel Gibson and Olivia Wilde: American/Irish
Sandra Bullock: American/German
Julianne Moore: American/British

It started for me around the time that Philadelphia came out in the 90s.

As a kid in the late 70s/early 80s, Bosom Buddies was one of my favorite shows and I saw most of his 80s comedies in the theaters.

He gets an Oscar for Philadelphia for basically going on a diet and slow dancing with Antonio Banderes. From around this point on, the more the media/public acted like he was some modern day Jimmy Stewart, the more he seemed like a phony to me.

You’re being a bit too cynical and flippant. That scene where Andy Beckett says goodbye to his family shortly before he dies rips my heart out every time.

I know a lot of people like it, but if there’s one performance that is (or at least at the time was) overrated, it was Forrest Gump.

I haven't seen it since it was out in theaters. I just remember walking out of it feeling like I was pretty sick of "serious actor" Tom Hanks and wished that he'd go back to making goofy comedies with people like John Candy.

Obviously, that didn't happen.

I loved Greyhound but I'm a Navy guy. It was a very good popcorn flick that let you into what it was like for these unsung sailors of the North Atlantic
