Skill Player Substitutions

Somewhat rhetorical question here:
Can someone explain why the Hell we rotate our WR's so much. Last year Chase, Marshall, Moss, and Jefferson played 85% of snaps. Occasionally you had Dillon or Racey of Sullivan spell them. Currently, our substitution pattern is SHOCKING. I'd say our backup WR's play 30-40% of snaps. The fact we are throwing slant routes to Tory Carter, seam routes to Tory Carter, out routes to Trey Palmer on 3rd and 6. These plays (even aside from our terrible defense) lost us the Mizzou game. We dropped 2 3rd down passes and 1 Touchdown because of back up receivers.
I'm not even going to bring up the cluster about running backs. John Emery getting 2 carries all game is a travesty.

Probably trying to find some guys who won't drop the damn ball

It's a staple of Ensminger. He did the same shite in 2018 and the offense suffered because of it.
Of course, it didnt happen at all under Brady in 2019. The best players just played.

This is the correct answer, and we need 2 new coordinators (E can be retired) for 2021. O has to get those correct (and at reduced budget) or its his neck next year.

Wr substitutions in 2018 were all over the place.
Just go with Marshall, Jenkins and McMath/Boutte and sub as needed

I agree. The only thing that would make sense is that the coaches aren't happy about a clear #2 behind Marshall, so they're trying to find one or they promised these guys certain amount of touches/throws per game which is fricking moronic.
#6 should be in as much as he can.
#2 should be in as much as he can.
#1 should be in as much as he can... he's actually shown some good things.
#17 should be in as much as he can...But he needs to show up. Dudes been a ghost this year.
#13, #10, #5, #33, #44 should only come in to give guys a breather.

He'd take WR's out of the game the next series after they had burned the defense for a TD.
I heard Kevin Faulk admit to Jacques Doucet that Brossette basically played over CEH in 2018 because he was tenured, not because he was better. Jacques has since deleted that video off of twitter, but it explains just how bad Ensminger was at this in 2018.

I know it's only based on who Myles has thrown to, but Jontre has been more impressive than Racey to this point. I think he should get a decent amount of snaps.

there was a 3rd down in 2nd half with all backups at wr/te...I don't get it

Of course not, was just talking strictly WRs

and Emery should never leave the field unless you want to put TDP in for some situational stuff.
Brennan-Emery-Marshall-Gilbert would have defenses on skates.

Because Ensminger is stubborn. I know we don't have last year's personnel, so I expect there to be more substitutions. But Ensminger has certain habits (like running the same running play over and over even if it doesn't have much success) that don't make much sense.
Marshall should not come out of the game unless he is exhausted or hurt and we shouldn't be throwing down field to basically a fullback.

I think this answers your question. Last year it was obvious that those were your four best receivers.
It’s clear that Marshall and Gilbert are the best two receiving threats this year, but it gets muddy beyond that. I would expect to see a lot of different bodies until a reliable 3rd and 4th option emerge.

Yes I’ve been impressed with him and he has a good grasp of the nuances of the position such as blocking. If you’ve got a core of 4-5 guys they’ll all get out there. The substituting for substituting’s sake is crazy sometimes.
Im assuming they limited Gilbert a little in the second half after he got dinged up

Then maybe don't call the same plays that are designed for Gilbert when you've got a guy with a shadow of the pass catching ability taking his place.

I agree, but there is no reason chase or Gilbert are ever out unless it’s for a breather or injury.

Gilbert catches that one in the end zone

Devils advocate here but in 2018 our receivers didnt have a ton of experience, much like this year.
I'd also expect that conditioning could be an issue.

I get 2018, but this year there is no need to have Marshall and Gilbert off the field
