Any power loss there yet? I'm supposed to be driving to Sevierville Sunday.
Nothing widespread that I've seen. We didn't get enough wind to really knock down lines, and the flooding is all in the same low areas that always flood.

Pulling up to Waveland now.

Derrick barge broke loose and pushed the boat there, they couldn't get the mains cranked up fast enough to save it

rds or Duke... is my analogy here as to why Zeta didn't get sheared accurate or am I off base with it?

I don’t know how to really explain it but it seems there is a very specific sweet spot a storm can hit where it interacts with a front but avoids the shear and the front somewhat keeps the storm fueled over land for a bit so it weakens very slowly.
I’m certainly no expert.... but it seems that the forward speed and direction of the storm is equal to the shear.... which essentially cancels out the shear. Gotta be something about relative motion

saving Knoxville
Near Knoxville, we've had 4.4 inches of rain since last Friday. With higher winds we'd have a lot more trees uprooted.

Surprisingly we lost power here in Gulf Coast Alabama. Our's came back on after about 8 hours. I guess a lot a weak trees fell after being hit by Sally and then Zeta.

Whole Foods in metairie is open. We went there to get coffee and breakfast. Surprisingly no one was there really. Don't go to Dunkin Donuts haha, it was all the way backed up to Target. Idiots

Reading this thread it sounds like this storm did quite some damage all across the SE. Seems to have made quite an impact for what was considered a Cat 1 or 2 at landfall.
It even knocked out power for multiple friends of mine in the ATL.
Hopefully everyone is safe.

Where did you hear this? It's not on the Facebook page where they posted a few updates.

Just glad it was moving fast. Once the eye passed over and the wind was coming from the south the canal behind my house came damn near up to my house in less than an hour.
