I figured Baton Rouge has been geared up for this ever since Gustav. "NEVER AGAIN!" Does anyone know if the HADS (Hurricane Avoidance and Deflection System) is located in St. George?

With how fast this storm is moving I don’t see this as issue for NOLA. IMO this will be a big nothing outside of any tornados that spin off.

Yep. Most areas can withstand 2 hours of 90 mph wind gusts just fine.

The current track not many places will be getting that especially not NOLA. If the track shifts west then yea it’s possible.

The Weather Channel gets a lot of crap, but at least they had the good sense to realize how stupid that was and dropped it pretty quick.

NWS local forecast

Oh boy. 61 gusting to 79 for me. Haven't seen winds like that since Gustav. Issac was not quite as high as that. I hope somehow Zeta is more like Issac from a wind standpoint.

The problem with Issac was that it barely moved and pushed in water, this will be totally different with a 25 mph forward speed.

oh no, not leaves on the ground especially in the fall!!

“Hurricane “ leaves are much different than “fall” leaves. I have oak, pecan, plum, cypress and orange trees. They are still green way down here close to the coast.

A hurricane pulls the leaves off in clusters with small and large branches. Green, wet and heavy. Pitch fork time and it is a chore. It is always hot and humid after a immense amount of moisture has been pulled out of the GOM.

If you are in Toledo you have never had the pleasure. At least I don’t have to fight snow and ice like y'all.

How much wind does it take to move patio furniture? Does it need to be brought back into the garage?

On the last few frames of this the storm looks more disorganized with dry air north of the eye. Am I interpreting this correctly?
