I’m going from 16 to 32 for the programs I use. Purchased 2 new cards but anything I need to be aware of before shutting down, swapping, and turning back on or am I overthinking the literal plug and play aspect of ram?

You're definitely overthinking it. It's ridiculously easy.

Literally just turn your computer off, unplug power, and proceed with replacement. It's stupid easy. The only gotcha is making sure the stick is oriented the right direction, there should be a groove on the bottom of them and you have to live up the notch in the motherboard slot.

This sounds like a job for the geek squad. I'm sure they would be happy to help you on this tough task.

The installation is super easy. The only thing to really be aware of with RAM is if you are adding sticks to your existing RAM all of your sticks will operate at the lowest stick's frequency/speed. So, if you currently have 2 8GB 3200 sticks and you add 2 8GB 3600 sticks to give you 32GB of RAM the new sticks will operate at 3200 instead of 3600 and you won't benefit from spending more on faster RAM.
