The man remains unidentified. Must be a Canadian thing.

A trucker caught smoking opium while driving on a freeway in Ontario, Canada, was charged and fired by his employer, police said.
Police pulled over the unidentified trucker on Ontario Highway 401, among the busiest in North America, late Friday after receiving a complaint that he was driving erratically, Ontario Provincial Police spokesperson Bill Dickson told FreightWaves.
“Sure enough, he was smoking opium,” Dickson said.
Because the offense resulted in an immediate driver’s license suspension, an officer called his trucking company, Dickson said. The carrier fired the driver on the spot, he said.

What happened to the days of Canadian truckers harmlessly pounding Molsons and banging lot lizards

Fun fact from someone who's spent some time in Ontario.
They don't have Open Container laws like we do.
If you're caught with an open container of alcohol or have been drinking at all, you go to jail. They'll do your BAC at the jail to figure out how drunk you are but you get a night in jail regardless.
I found out when I walked into a hotel lobby with an open 40oz of Old English Malt Liquor I grabbed from the Beer Store on to hotel from the papermill. Less than one mile.
The clerk freaked out and informed me that "Ontario is not like the States! You can't drink and drive at all here!"
And yes, their beer store is called.... The Beer Store.

So his employer charged him with a crime? Can employers do that in Canada?
