Why did we hire Linehan instead of giving Russ Callaway a shot?

He’s a young offensive mind like Brady who ran some of the best spread offenses in college football at Samford. Why not put him with Ensminger? Now we have old NFL guy helping old college guy. You also have an impressive young guy in Tyler Tettleton just hanging around as an analyst. It doesn’t make sense to me. Having experience is great but you also need some young blood mixed in to give things done energy.

Why do we need Ensminger at all? I'm honestly confused as to what he provides that is utterly essential.

LSU paying Ensminger & Linehan a combined $1.8mil dollars is one of the most dumbfounding offensive structures I can remember

Cause the Linehan hire was the agreement to get the Nussmeier QB commit we just got.... thanks Paper Tiger!

Bc o wanted to hire people he knows and people that wouldn’t leave him. Young guys take new jobs

Lol at people that thought E ran the offense last year

It’s so stupid. I have never in my life seen an NFL retread bring anything creative or innovative to the game of football. I said even before we got Brady, I would make it a point to get an under 40 up and comer to run my offense. All the best offenses in college and the NFL except for Leach are coached by young guys but LSU has a bunch of geriatrics.

I don’t think Linehan vs. Callaway or Tettleton is much of an issue right now.
I do think Linehans time here will be fairly short

Its Cam Cameron all over again, except this time we have 2 Camerons. Ensminger and Pelini are here for the duration of O's career. Its the BBQ boys all over again. Plus I am so over the Lenihan hire, I was against it from the start and no more so than ever.

Play calling wasn’t the issue yesterday. Execution was.

E is the problem, and he needs to go. It’s pretty ridiculous that LSU pays O roughly $7 million per year to make questionable hires on offense. He needs to hire an offensive coordinator that runs a spread offense, and let him run it. If that guy wants to bring in an assistant, so be it. This experiment with E needs to end.

Brady and Aranda we do not have nor talent overall do we have. Step back and think about it. LSU went from the one of, if not, the best seasons in college football history to relying on a Samford coach along with Harvard and Nichols transfers to save the program. LSU had massive coaching brain drain and talent loss.

quote:
“He’s very smart, very intelligent, knows football and I think the most unique thing about him is that he’s worked on both sides of the ball,” said Iowa running backs coach Derrick Foster, who worked with Callaway at Samford. “He has it. He has the tools. He has the ability. He has the mindset and can coordinate an offense. He understands how to cater to his players. And he’s full of energy. I loved being around him, enjoyed coaching with him and can’t say enough about him.”
Worked both sides of the ball! Two years with Saban. Maybe he can take over for Pelini!

The people who think the offensive play calling yesterday was the problem make me laugh.
They called the same exact plays as last year
The offensive line didn't block and the qb played sub par.
That's never a recipe for success.
What would russ Callaway have called differently
