If you sign too many 3 star corners...

Today is what you get... Stingley and Vincent not being there aside, there were SO many plays where their receivers were getting 5+ yard separations on simple routes. It wasn’t just one guy that was getting burnt, either. I thought Eli looked great for a freshman and Flott was just okay, but the others couldn’t even keep up
I’ve never seen us with corners that can’t run with receivers....

But Corey Raymond is a hero to all of us I thought? That's what most say when he signs a big time DB and people say pay him more money. He's as responsible for today as Pelini.

There were some bright spots on the d-line tonight.

Not ready apparently. Which is scary considering how not ready Flott and Ward were today. We need ALL the CBs from that class to be good players, quickly

Ricks made a mistake on the TD he allowed, but overall for his first game, I thought he looked solid
Flott and Ward had a couple good plays in coverage, but overall they were nothing short of terrible
Evans, the poor guy, should not be anywhere near the SEC. One of the worst games from an LSU DB I can recall

Yeah, there was a reason that Flott, Ward, and Evans weren't highly recruited. They belong in Conference USA or the Sun Belt conference, not the SEC. The pass rush of course could always be better but it wasn't like Costello was back there eating a hot dog looking around. The targets got way too much separation and too quickly. The guy just lobbed the ball time after time and that is indicative of loose coverage to be kind.

I told people don't think he is going to workout and got downvoted bad
It's his second year and we haven't heard a peep about him.
Corey raymond is fine.
I don't think he told jay ward to quit on that last play and he def wasn't calling man to man with no help
Blaming Corey raymond is laughable

I have never seen CB’s in the SEC be so rail thin. These guys could all still be in car seats as much as they way. They probably have trouble hitting 225 lbs on bench. Good lord they are slight. Weighing 160lbs as a SEC anything is going to get you dominated!

makes them run really fast, actually they’re not
wait til tommy moffit gets a hold of them, wait they been here for two years
they just aren’t very good...they never passed the eye test last year even if they were freshmen
staff needs to prioritize the cb position in a bad way

Corners suck, the defense suck, myles Brennan suck. Too many 3 and outs for myles Brennan, the kid been there 4 years and that's what u produce?? Yah I get the 2019 team had protection, I get that they had leadership, I get that had guys that knew what they were doing, totally get that. But the assistants and players had zero clue what they were doing out there vs moo state. So is this the year where University Louisiana Lafayette gets more wins that LSU football in same season? ULL is just about bowl eligible already

The bigger question is, why do we only have one corner in this class after seeing the lack of depth and talent yesterday?

I started a thread about the lack of big-time DB recruits back in the Spring and got crucified. I restate my opinion that we are lacking here.
Flott is a skinny slow CB who cannot tackle nor cover.
Ward is better but still nowhere near elite.
Eli is already far better but has some growing to do as would any freshman.

DBU is either dead, or dying a slow, uh quick death.
Absolutely an embarrassment!

Blaming Corey Raymond is certainly apt. Did you see the technique used most of the day? It was horrible. That's Corey Raymond. If our CBs belong in group of 5 conferences, who chose them? That's on Corey Raymond.
I agree it's not his fault for Pelini sending the lambs to slaughter but to say Raymond is not with major fault when these are his hand picked kids displaying a lack of technique he's responsible for teaching is being disingenuous. Maybe there's a reason he's been one of the lowest paid coaches on our staff for all those years. Maybe the DCs were covering his flaws as a coach with scheme.
I'm not saying fire him or that I don't believe he's still a good coach. Maybe it was just that opponent exposed things that wont be exposed again this year but he's definitely due major blame for yesterday.

Maybe we should recruit fake players to go along with the fake fans

I'm sure there's a guy or two who came here as 3 stars and playing in the NFL...
This was all about scheme and being one step too late against a QB with an attitude and short clock in his head.

talent evaluation is critical -
Posted on 9/27/20 at 9:10 am to ipodking
Ready or not here we come!!!
Raydar and McGlothern should have played if just for fresh legs as Ward, FLott and Evans (Nicholls transfer) just does not have the talent nor wheels to hang with top SEC WR and a QB who is as accurate as KJC.
