Hurricane Delta:
The newest storm advisory was not the news I wanted to hear, but nevertheless, here we are.
***DEDUCTIBLE: Hurricane deductibles with State Farm are seasonal. What does that mean? When more than one hurricane occurs within the same calendar year, a deductible amount equal to the remaining amount of any unused Hurricane deductible or the All Peril will apply, whichever is greater. So basically, if you met your hurricane deductible after Hurricane Laura, your smaller all peril deductible will apply to damage from Hurricane Delta. If you didn't meet your deductible after Hurricane Laura, your deductible for damages from Hurricane Delta will be the balance of your hurricane deductible or your all peril deductible, whichever is greater. Confused, that's ok...call us to ask questions!***
Evacuation:
--If there is a mandatory evacuation, keep track of all expenses incurred during your evacuation. Keep gas receipts, hotel receipts, food receipts, etc. These will be included in your new claim.
New Damage:
--If your property sustains additional damage from Hurricane Delta, a new claim will be filed. Keep all pictures from damage after Hurricane Laura and then take pictures of new damages. New storms mean new claims. All claims have a deductible applied, but remember, only ONE hurricane deductible per season.
This makes me feel a little better. Hope it holds true.

From my agent at State Farm...all claims have a deductible applied but only one hurricane deductible per season. Hope this helps.
I just checked my policy this is what mine states. I hope I read it correctly.

Having a hard time seeing this build back up to a Cat 3-4. Not enough heat in the gulf. I’m betting on a strong cat 1 at landfall

Any board opinions on boarding up in Westlake?
I didn't last time but there is so damn much debris they just hauled out of the house next to me yesterday.

These recent hurricanes went from a CAT 1 to CAT 3 or CAT 4's overnight it seems. I hope this one doesn't.

Now considering staying in Lafayette. Guess I’ll wait to make the call. What’s everybody doing?

Apparently state farm will require a separate deductible payment for Laura and Delta. Talk about some bullshite.
Well it is 2 separate instances. Doesnt seem crazy
It’s harsh as frick, but homeowner’s insurance deductibles are typically per claim, not per calendar year.

Going to try and convince my wife everything will be fine and not to drive 3 hrs to houston.

We saw Delta go from a depression to a CAT 4 in 36 hours. I hope that doesn’t happen in this case, but it seems like the models have struggled with intensity forecast most of the season unless it’s the HMON.

I know that Laura was a projected landfall as a Cat 2. Overachieved by almost 50mph i believe.
Obviously Laura had much warmer waters to work with.

Jesus H...you're so annoying.
I am, but it could be worse.
I’m not the one trying to claim I sat through hurricane force winds when I didn’t.

Unless your adjuster has already been to your house, I am not sure how they can tell

Need to add “wind velocity in BR from Gustav is mentioned” to bingo card

Watching from TV and hoping and praying for you guys. Alot of my family is right around the Lafayette area so please let Delta go in and out with a whimper.

Definitely need to update the board with a "Gustav"

I really hate this trend today. The people of southwest and south central Louisiana don’t need this at all.

I used to know this but what time do the euro and gfs models come out?
I know Z time is 5 hours ahead of central Time. So the 18z model was ran for 1:00 pm data im guessing?
But what time is the 18z model actually published?

Yea, insurance companies don’t keep track of payments they send out to insureds or anything.
