Dude. If drugs were legal and cheaper, it would be LESS likely for your scenario to exist.
What if demand goes up?

Why isn't this true for liquor?
Of course, when you can buy a liter of Evan Willams or Popov for 10 bucks it kinda takes away the appeal to risk arrest (and lead poisoning) for getting your booze from a bootlegger.

It’s been done. By numerous other guys.

Legalizing marijuana and releasing everyone in jail for non-violent marijuana possession/distribution is the easiest political and policy win.
Leave it to the states how they want to tax it just like alcohol.
Treat adults like adults.

I think the nation's youth is plenty stupid already.

Then the free market would increase production.

You posited that murder and/or stealing somehow ever constituted scenarios in which nobody else was hurt.
Sarcasm my friend, sarcasm to show how ridiculous the argument of how drugs don’t hurt anyone argument is. They destroy families whether they are legal or not. Yes alcohol, gambling and a bunch of other stuff not done in moderation does too. Why add one more that is addictive to everyone to the list?

Let’s legalize murder and stealing also.
I said it ( drug habit or addiction) would be a crime if you impacted another person's rights.
All the homeless druggies would have to set up tents elsewhere...they impact the public...negativity

You really need to define what “the war on drugs” is that you want to end?
Complete legalization? Partial? Reduced federal funding? Abolishment of funding? Etc etc
Not being a smart A , to me it can just mean a lot of different things.

People who want drugs right now have absolutely no bar to getting them. Making it legal will simply eliminate the federal money gravy train that goes to local cities and state govt's.

What about the border wall?
Trump wanted it to stop drugs from hitting our streets.

Now convince me that addiction rates won’t sky rocket and be a detriment to society as a whole and I’ll listen.

This board doesn’t care about the impact on society as a whole. Rugged individualism! Thinking about anything other than yourself is communism!

There can't be real reform w/o ending drug prohibition, imo.

He doesn’t know a thing. He’s too stupid to reason with.
He probably thinks everyone who smokes a joint is some worthless homeless street junkie.
Much more likely is the professionals that deal with high stress jobs every day use it to unwind. Or the old gramma down the street gets her grandson to pick some up from someone he knows so she can bake cookies to help with the side effects from her chemo.
Are there loser potheads? Sure
But there are far more responsible people, at least away from the Left Coast

None of those things you listed are the problem, it is when people combine them with an illegal act an individual does. Removing the medium because someone might do something illegal with them is the same argument for making guns illegal.
Can’t have alcohol, someone might drive drunk. Can’t have guns, someone might shoot someone.
