When I worked for the New South Wales state government, our office building was crown land. I got a kick out of seeing “HM Queen Elizabeth II” listed as the landlord on our lease.

Precisely. So many fail to comprehend that The Royal Family is basically a giant corporation and what the British taxpayer pays her is no different than a compensation package for a CEO. Revenue from The Crown inures to the benefit of the taxpayers, the taxpayers give her and her family a cut back to pay for the expenses out of which staffing etc to run the operation is paid. She's no different than a management consultant. And this provision for when revenue drops was written into the agreed upon funding years ago. And is reviewed frequently.

I'd take a Monarch that supported their nation and people over a Democracy/Republic that hated the main ethnic group of the nation.

(Not at all sayin England's crown is good, bc they're not)

Yeah, I'm not sure people on here realize this is different than her private estate. This isn't a government bailout to the Queen as much as it's a government bailout to itself.

Not wishing ill will on anyone, but let’s say the Royal Family vanished from the Earth today. Would any function of government be affected? I guess the better questions is ‘What role do they play in the functioning government?’

Any at all?
