Jamal Murray drafted one pick after the Pelicans selected Buddy Hield. Jamal Murray is the age now that Buddy Hield was when the Pelicans drafted him.

Jerami Grant is either going to pick up his player option (unlikely considering the playoff run), or he’s going to get paid. And he’s already making MLE money, so I doubt he’s declining his option for anything near that.

If we had drafted Murray and timelines stayed the same to where the Boogie trade still became a thing, Murray would have still been the young asset included in that package. Boogie was an All-NBA level player. We have to remember that at that time, Murray was incredibly young and he was just a nice young talent. He was nowhere close to showing the potential to be what he is now. In other words, Murray was not an untouchable back then and would have been included in that trade.

He wasn't on the radar so I can't really blame them for it. But it's definitely a "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKK, that sucks" decision now.

Let’s wait another 2 years to make a reasonable evaluation of that pick. If Hayes give you the defensive versatility and anchor ability of a Bam Adebayo, I don’t think anyone would be sad. The judgement is still out. Bigs will always take longer to make an impact.

I was in the camp that wanted Murray over Buddy. I remember McNamera also beating the drum for Murray. His ceiling was higher as we are all seeing now.
And I think Murray would still be on the team. The Kings trade only happened because the owner was infatuated with Buddy., I’m not sure they were even high on Murray.

After summer league I said in a thread we should trade Jrue for him as the centerpiece and got down voted to hell. Think I was told he was just another 3 point shooter that can’t play defense and you can find those easily in the draft every year.

Oh, you got that hindsight is 20/20 huh? I don’t remember you calling for Herro at any time during the draft, but since we are playing that game, I can’t believe the Saints didn’t take Tom Brady or Joe Montana. CRIMINAL!
