Was it Justice White's "dying wish" to be replaced by a baby killer?

He wrote a dissent in Roe v. Wade, and then gets replaced by RBG.
The Dems have no room to bitch about the pendulum swinging back.

Justice White
May not have agreed with him on everything, but he was not your everyday Justice
Byron Raymond "Whizzer" White (June 8, 1917 – April 15, 2002) was an American lawyer and professional football player who served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1962 to 1993.
Born and raised in Colorado, he played college football, basketball, and baseball for the University of Colorado, finishing as the runner up for the Heisman Trophy in 1937.
He was selected in the first round of the 1938 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates and led the National Football League in rushing yards in his rookie season.
White was admitted to Yale Law School in 1939 and played for the Detroit Lions in the 1940 and 1941 seasons while still attending law school.
During World War II, he served as an intelligence officer with the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre. After the war, he graduated from Yale and clerked for Chief Justice Fred M. Vinson.

That was just his first 30 years or so.
I didn't always agree with him, either, but his defense of the unborn in the RvW dissent is legendary. As good as dissents get (excepting some of Scalia's best work).

It's often hard to realize that there was actually a time when Washington wasn't filled almost exclusively with lifeless dilettantes.

Sadly, most millennials don’t have a damn clue who White is or his legacy.
Go to the street today and ask 50 young people who Byron White is. Then ask them who Ruth Bader Ginsburg is.
The results would be depressing.

A better (or worse) stat is almost 2/3s of the shite for brains under 40 in this country didn't know about the holocaust or thought it was a myth

Although White was right of center and further on some issues, he was 100% Democrat. IIRC, he resigned from the SC when Clinton became president because he wanted a Democratic President to replace him. Unlike Souter, appointed by Bush and resigns so Obama can replace him with Sotomayor.
Another was John Paul Stevens, appointed by Ford, resigned so Obama could appoint Kagan

They aren't. Oddly enough, though, Danny White's father was ANOTHER football player nick-named 'Whizzer.'
I had no clue of that. LINK
