Was there a GJ hearing for that case?
Apparently, Florida law does not require a grand jury in all homicide cases. You were correct, and I was mistaken. Apologies.

It was a local affiliate's site of a major news org (CBS, maybe? I'm guessing). It was some weeks ago.

The assertion was that the officer announced as they hit the door vs. prior to hitting the door. Either way, it looks like the announcement was made.

I think there's BWC footage that has yet to come out. Wouldn't surprise me if that's part and parcel to the apparent GJ non-indictment forthcoming.

Time will tell.

It was a no-knock warrant. The police, however, claim they knocked and announced. Taylor's boyfriend claims they pounded on the door but did not announce.

If a grand jury won't indict, what's the likelihood that you'll get a guilty verdict from a jury? You don't have a defense attorney making an argument before the GJ, and they still don't indict? Seems that it's more of a pragmatic decision...why waste the resources on a trial when you'll never get a conviction?

I agree. I also tend to think it's an easy out for when the prosecution doesn't want it on their hands.

Wasn't there a case in BR right around 2005-06 where a civilian killed a guy attacking a city officer or a deputy? I'm 99% sure they GJ'd him just to make it seem like they weren't going to refuse to file. They knew the GJ wouldn't indict, so it was as much a political move than anything else.

I'm not saying these officers should be indicted. I'm just saying that going to the GJ when you know they won't indict is a good way to shift some of the pressure off of the prosecution.

It was a no-knock warrant.
More accurately, it had a no-knock provision or approval.

Photos from the briefing room indicate that it was not to be executed as a no-knock warrant.

Not proof-positive, but I'm just saying.

Impossible. The police said there was no bwc footage. (We know they’re lying.)

Is this something even possible to lie about? I always assumed the video went to the cruiser laptop and into a secure server.

Are they recorded Directly and only to the device ?

Here is what i think happened:
She was shot because she was in front of her boyfriend. She was in front of her boyfriend because she is the one who responded when police banged on the door. Pretty sure neighbors heard her yelling at the door when the cops banged on it. I think she and her BF thought it was Glover at the door (faking like he was the police) and when the cops busted open the door, her BF fired first thinking it was the gang. She got hit by return fire because she was in front closest to the door in the hallway.

I think they all differ or can be configured differently.

I piloted one back in the mid-early 2000s, but it was a dashcam only. Once we got into WiFi range of the substation it started pulling content from the unit onto some storage device or server in the building.

There was a cabled connection they tried at first but officers kept pulling off with it plugged in so they abandoned that.

Is this true?

Not being snarky or facetious, just hadn't heard anything other than it being a "no-knock warrant". shite, that was the whole premise of the outrage, no??

I think it's a matter of semantics.

It was a warrant with a no-knock provision, indicating that going the no-knock route was approved by the judge.

However, the briefing room showed the details of the address where the warrant was to be served and it was not described as a no-knock.

Also, the NY Times asserts that it was a knock-and-announce which had been changed from a no-knock.

Was just in Louisville this past weekend. Did not see any protests/riots, but it is sad to see the damage done already. Businesses boarded up, graffiti everywhere, and downtown was dead as Elvis.
