What Boycotting the NFL Actually Looks Like

There's a lot of talk of boycotting. The big argument is "am I watching or not?" -- it's not that simple --
To put things into perspective -- here is a list of 21 ways fans participate in the NFL:
1. Watching your team play
2. Watching other teams play on Sunday
3. Watching other teams play while your team is on BYE
4. Watching other Teams play on Thursday, Sunday, or Monday night.
5. Physically going to a game (and spending money for food and beverages)
6. Owning Season Tickets
7. Suite Tickets
8. Flying in to watch a Home game
9. Flying out to Away games; staying in Hotels
10. Renting or owning homes in cities just to watch your team play at Home
11. Purchasing team gear
12. Tailgating pre-game/post-game
13. Going to Sports Bars and Restaurants to do any of #1 through #4 as well as pre-game/post-game activity.
14. Watching post game/pre-game analysis on TV
15. Watching Sports Highlights
16. Going to sites like ESPN to review stats and stories
17. Watching Sports Commentators
18. Participating in Online or Social Media debate, commentary, or analysis, or highlights
19. Fantasy Football leagues
20. Casual Gambling
21. DirectTV NFL ticket, Cable, or Streaming Services
In regards to boycotting -- the question is not "are you watching your team?"
The real question: How many of the above activities have you cut out?
What will be the long-term effects of taking on politically divisive, and in some cases unpopular positions with your own customers? -- especially during a pandemic that has forced many to question, during the absence of sports, do I need all this excess?
Edit --
the big point here is that people are consuming less football -- even if all they are doing is watching their team on TV once a week

I have done zero of those for a decade.

All of them, except for commenting on the issue here.

Based on your list, I'm 21/21 in not participating for almost 2 years now. The behavior of the league and players so far this year has just cemented my justification for walking away after I started watching with my dad in ...1975

I've honestly never done even a third of the things on your list and followed the NFL closely to casually from age 8 until a couple years back. I'd watch the Raiders and later the Saints religiously, but haven't bought jerseys or team apparel since high-school. I'm in my mid-40s, now.
To each his own, but I worry about folks who get too fanatical about sports, especially if they're neglecting their wife and families.
Anyone who's done #10 on your list is a tad too invested in my book.
I put all the politics aside and tried to watch the Saints yesterday, but with all my commitments around the house and my two small children to watch after, I may have seen five minutes of game action. Any man who's serious about being a husband and father can only get so involved in watching football.

How does that support the NFL? Property taxes? If I didn't know the NFL existed am I still supporting the NFL because I own a home?
Flying to or from a city supports the NFL? How, kickbacks?

I am all in. Zero for 21. See you next year (maybe) NFL when you remember you are here for entertainment, not social commentary.

Sweet. I’m 100% boycotting. Even though some of that is an absolute crock.

Yeah...many of these feel more like the way we've traditionally followed college football. I guess for some they've followed an NFL team that way, but it just seems even weirder.

I did these two just to check and see how CEH and Burrow did and to watch their TDs.

I support this post. There are a few posters on here, I'm not naming names, who say things like:
- I'll catch the highlights on my phone after the game
- I'll listen on the radio
- I'll mute the TV
- I have to play fantasy football as my co-workers / friends will have their FF ruined if I don't.
- I'll only check the score on SI.com or ESPN.com or NFL.com
All of this generates clicks or eyeballs/ears for a group that has decided to be disrespectful to our unifying, beautiful National Anthem, flag and nation, all over LIES about blacks and police.
LET IT GO my friends... it is not that hard. These players and NFL staff HATE YOU!!

Some idiot yesterday had a thread about boycotting the games but watching them via streaming service. Good grief.

All of the above that I did before.
Some I hadn't done, e.g suite tickets

I saw that, and it was so stupid. THE POINT is to not watch, not consume, and tell everyone your stance.
If some 'bootleg' service shows the games, reporters and the NFL will claim those eyeballs too, once they can quantify it (which is rather easy).
