Best Lawyers vs Super Lawyers

Which “award” is more cringe? I’d probably go with Super Lawyers. What on earth is a Super Lawyer? Maybe Gordon is a Super Lawyer cause he can stand on a big rig while wearing a suit?

A lot of these lawyer "awards" are given to any member of the bar who pays a fee.

I believe the formula is
(Total Settlements/Total # of cases)*(0.75*Maritime Cases)*(0.67*Auto accident cases)*Workplace Incident multiplier=X.
If X is greater than 17.45 you're considered a Super Lawyer. If X is 16.08 to 17.44 you're a Best Lawyer. Anything less than 16.08 is just a lawyer.
I think the exchange rate is currently 1.575 Best Lawyers = 1 Super Lawyer. Approximately.

The only "award" that matters these days for an attorney (or any business) these days is your Google reviews.

You cannot pay your way on to Best Lawyers either.
Does either one mean that a lawyer on the list is a good lawyer? Probably not. Both lists depend heavily on name recognition, which is not always an indicator of proficiency.

Does Gordon practice any other law besides personal injury? He claims his firm wants to "be your lawyers for life". Do people need a personal injury attorney on retainer or something?

Never heard of it. They have tons of those things. Send them $300 and you can have a whole office full of plaques declaring you the best at whatever you want.
