Anybody use these? Are the pretty reliable? Thinking about putting one in a hidden front bumper mount on a ‘19 f150

Interested as well. I’m thinking about putting one on my wife’s Rancher. I have a Viper Max on my side by side. The badlands is much cheaper.

I just put a 3500 on my son's kodiak. Except for the name, it looks absolutely identical to the Warn 3500 that came on my grizzly. I'd swear they were made in the same factory.

They aren't terrible, but there is a better way.

Find the size winch you want.

Go to eBay and search viper winch. They will all have a fairly high price. You'll notice 1 or 2 at auction.

Bid 20 bucks over the minimum. It may take two tries but you will win the winch.

I got a 12k lb winch with synthetic line for 300 bucks delivered.

It's been used snd abused. Works well.

Ps... Do not get the 12k. It's too damned big.

Many people recommend them. For personal reasons I won’t use Warn anymore myself. KFI is good too. If you buy a badlands you have to get the 3500lb or higher. Smaller ones aren’t sealed. Had one on a Honda and when I sold it still worked fine. Remember to use those coupons baws.

I have two. Both are acting as boat hoists. One has been up for about 5 years and the other about 3. Zero issues.

I got my truck stuck in the back pasture last winter, sunk straight to the frame. We tried pulling it with trucks and small tractors but couldnt budge it.

I bought the 12000lb Badlands winch and put it on a hitch mount. It made it grunt, but it pulled it out, no problem.

There is a really good youtube video of a guy breaking one down. I think he recommended changing out some of the grease, but overall it was a solid unit.

Have had one on my old 300 Foutrax for a couple years. No issues at all. Was a little worried the wireless remote may crap out, but it hasn't.

What hidden mount are you looking at? I've got a 2017 F150 and I want a hidden winch mount.

I had a 12k on my 2013 F150 and it did well until the contactor blew up. I ordered the contactor from HF for the 18k winch and put that on it and never had another problem. It's slow and only has 65' of cable on it but I've never had a tree further than that. Mechanically it never had a problem and it's still running on that truck.

BTW, when the contactor blew up I was pulling some big overgrown shrubbery out at Dad's house and I was working on #14 and needed to do 3 more. Red tip photinias have a hell of a root system when they get about 10" base.

3500 badland on my fourwheeler that stays underwater, still works perfectly fine. So for a truck it’s a no brainer.

I have a small one on a 300 fourtrax

It's never been under water but the remote receiver crapped out a few years ago. I ordered a new one a while back but haven't gotten around to installing it yet

ETA

You can do a bypass of the remote system using a cheap ON OFF ON momentary switch. I plan on doing this when I wire in my new transmitter so that I'm not dead in the water next time the cheap Chinese remote system fails.

Thinking about doing this on a 05 Tundra. Would you buy a winch with synthetic rope or wire cable? Pros and Cons of each?

When my Warn crapped out on my Foreman, I replaced with a Badland 3500# about 5 years ago. It has always worked perfectly.

Installed a 12K one on my log trailer. Loaded some logs that were 10K with no problems.

Same here. Less expensive that SDHQ one and they say it's designed for Warn Zeon wireless winches.

Synthetic. All day.

Lighter.

Safer.

Stronger.

And if you use the nylon abrasion sleeve when winching over something, durable.

I have the same line on mine from 3 vehicles and 8 years ago.

Won't die.
