Second Johnsonville, especially the spicy brats.

Johnsonville usually, can pick up a big pack cheap at Sam's Club.

My favorite is G & W Sausage & Meats in south St. Louis. It's a German store with everything made in house. Can order online. Their andouille is really good too.

EDIT: Not to derail, but I won a Johnsonville Sizzlin Sausage cooker in a golf outing a few years ago. It actually does a great job on J'ville brats for cooking 5 brats at a time.

I prefer the super market brand (mostly Publix) more than Johnsonville.

Walk into the store and they will give you a beer.

But back to the OP's question, the best bratwurst I ever ate were Dietz & Watson out of Philadelphia.

I usually buy Johnsonville or Kroger.

Not fair to say this, but the best Brat I ever had was from a grill along a sidewalk at the Milwaukee Zoo (circa 1977). Grilled and BBQ sauced on a bun.

It was this brand.

Usinger's

Have bought them while in Chicago a time or two and brought them back with me on the plane.

Publix house brand brats, chorizo, italian sausage, and kielbasa are all really good.

Growing up in Chicagoland there was an Italian market called Prisco's that, to this day, has the best brats I've ever had in my life. Just perfect. I visit every time I go home.

Pelkin's Meat Market in Crivitz, WI. Their original is really good, but they make 70 other varieties as well. Anything from buffalo wing to Asian pear to jalepeno cheddar.

Paulina Meat Market also does great homemade brats and sausages. Perfect for the smoker.

Kramarczuk's Sausage Company in MSP area. But for store bought, I get Johnsonville.

Weisswurst with boiled potatoes covered in green Frankfurt sauce. And boiled eggs on the side.

You'll never eat bratwurst again.

Usingers are sold at Specs Smith St in Hou. I have people in Ohio and a lot of the small butcher shops make their own. One of my favorites had mustard seeds in them.

Their web site does not do the place justice. If you walk into Paulina you will buy three times as much stuff as you planned.

MD my brother lives in Milwaukee and I was going to say Usinger’s. That’s the best brat I’ve ever had.

Weisswurst

We would get Weisswurst from Patak, a Czech-family owned butcher in Georgia. Unfortunately they stopped making it but they still make great sausages.

I am always a believer in local places over the commercial renditions like Johnsonville. I'll buy the Rouse's brand or the Winn Dixie brand here on the Northshore.

Although the people up north know how to do it right.
My Favorite Butcher:
Falatics Meat Market

Side Note: Their place is in Sawyer, MI. They have college team flags from patrons hanging in their store, quite literally from all over. I gave them an LSU flag.
