Can’t go into detail but this is not a hypothetical. If a top senior linebacker or d lineman from big ten wants to get some more real game time in before draft, can we take him. Do we have a scholly available or can something be worked it. It’s one damn semester.

If there is a way, we may about to see a bunch of bangs. You can email me privately if needed .

I’d think we have at least 3 spots available with Thomas gone, Ferrell opting out, and they had one scholarship still available from the 2020 class I believe.

I think we have plenty of spots for walk ons, correct? Otherwise, I don't know how we can take new players and them not count towards the next class and we only have one more than can be counted towards the previous class if I'm not mistaken.

There is just one available scholarship from the last signing class. Players leaving the program doesn't affect the 25 signee limit of last year's class. I suspect if a really good senior transfer is interested in LSU, he has already contacted them. If not, he's running out of time.

Have to believe we’re looking for an impact DE if one were available

If you have inside scoop, shouldn’t you already know the answer to your question? Just ask your source

We have one spot. That said, we are already preparing for the season so anyone that wants to transfer here, or anywhere, better hurry up. They still have to go through the waiver process which is no guarantee and could take more time than it's worth for us or the player.

Transfers count against the recruiting class. We have only one spot left. Doesnt matter what the 85 man roster looks like...

At present, with no changes to NCAA rules or by-laws - only a graduate transfer would be eligible to play this season, unless, of course, the NCAA granted the player a waiver. Also, the grad transfer would have to complete a certain amount of coursework or LSU would loss the opportunity to take a grad transfer as one of the 25 initial counters in the 2021 class.

While we do have a spot available, if the player is a Senior and has not graduated, then he would have to sit out a year and effectively red-shirt for the season, unless a waiver is granted by the NCAA to allow for immediate eligibility.

Would be a risky move on two points:

1. Lose an initial counter in 2021 (will only have 25 spots instead of 26); and

2. Depending on the NCAA to rule in your favor is never a safe bet.

Depends. Maybe there’s a stud DE or LB in the FCS ranks that wants to come now like Cox did

FWIW, Orgeron has said that with Vincent gone, they may use the last scholarship on a DB if they can find a fit. But, if there is a true stud at another position, I'm sure they would consider it.

They have to sit out even as a walk on,?

Honest question.

Just my opinion but I would doubt the NCAA will be granting waivers for immediate eligibility because of COVID. It would open up the floodgates, could gut PAC12 and Big10 rosters and end up being the Wild West.
