I can't sympathize with too many of these people facing eviction.

I get it. It's rough. However in most cases, unemployment compensation may not equal your regular paycheck amount, but it's surely enough to keep you from falling 4+ months behind on your rent. I mean, WTF are you doing with your money?
Food and shelter are your priorities. Everything else is secondary. Problem is a lot of these people didn't make any lifestyle changes. I see Amazon Prime trucks making deliveries more than ever before.
Also, you have to factor in the delusionals who intentionally didn't pay their rent when they indeed had the money....in hopes of some type of government bailout.
Now they want to play the victim.

Not saying anything specific, but there’s a reason retail sales (especially electronics) have significantly increased in the last 4 months.

You are correct for a lot of these instances.
There are some who got completely fricked because of the government shut down though. Now they still can't find work and Congress refuses to find a solution for additional assistance until the shutdowns end.
I'm lucky and have my parent's camper but there's a lot of them who have no where to go who want to get back to work.

I sympathize for the kids that are in these situations.
You do paint an extremely broad brush but there are a ton of folks that worked hard to put food on their tables and a roof over their heads and lost jobs out of nowhere due to this bullshite that's going on.

True but no one seems to be hiring for decent paying jobs because of the uncertainty. We need our leaders to stop spreading fear and doom and begin pushing optimism.

Some instances you are correct, but with the housing prices skyrocketing it's tough to think everyone can just float 4 months of rent.

I work in the used...car market. Prices have significantly increased 20% and their is a shortage of trade ins.

Many people who didn't need gov assistance received it also. The gov told them to go out and stimulate the economy. What's wrong with doing just that?

How many fell behind while getting twice as much in unemployment (with Fed extra $600 weekly payment through close to end of July) than they did working before shutdowns?
Anyone who was taking in more with Wuhan unemployment through end of July than when working before Wuhan while at same time not paying rent and not saving some of that extra money coming in has only themselves to blame for facing eviction less than a month after Fed payment stopped. Throw in stimulus check, student loan deferments, other deferments of obligations, charity, and so on just makes it more on them.
I feel for the people taking hits while on unemployment even when Fed payment was happening, but not so much for those who were taking in more especially when some doubled their weekly take home $ with Fed payment on top of state payment.
