How do you feel about people who are taking advantage of the Covid-19 "offers"?

A guy I work with is bragging about how he is in a 6 months mortgage forbearance. He had no circumstances that would cause him to need the forbearance. He is paying down credit card debt instead of paying his mortgage.
Another guy I know quit his job. Filed for unemployment and was approved. Making more now than before he quit.
How do you feel about these types of people? We all know a few.

0% on student loans means 100% toward principle.

Makes me fricking sick. I work hard. Stand for the flag and kneel for the cross. Pay my taxes. Provide for my family. No one is giving me a damn thing.

Scum, absolute scum. But people will find ways to take advantage of virtually any policy.

Ultimately he still has to pay the mortgage.

I can't tell you what I'd do now because my income hasn't been that low since I was 17. At 17, I would've done it.

So he's bragging that he's delaying the inevitable? Well, that's stupid.

The $600 boost expired at the end of July. What state are you in? Here in Kentucky you're not getting paid more than what you made without that boost (and the boost is temporary).

I am judging nobody , considering that our government is actively plotting ways to screw over as many people as possible and may continue to do so indefinitely. When your government is arbitrary and focused on limiting your rights and obliterating the economy of the country you live in-do what you have to do to put yourself in a better position.

Hmmmm. Not a bad idea. But I have no credit card dept. The 6 months is going to be added at the end of his mortgage.

Not to mention the ones getting “Covid vacations”, paid to stay home for 2 weeks because they have a sniffle or headache. Then they come back and take their PTO vacations. Hunting season coming up, think im coming down with something.

I don't fault this guy at all.

Except that your mortgage will now say in forbearance on your credit bureau

I mean I wouldn’t brag but it’s not a bad idea to pause mortgage payments for 6 months to knock out credit cards and free up some budget space. Corporations do crafty accounting tricks all the time.

The discount on auto insurance was nice. We all took advantage of Covid in some way.

I’m okay with filing for unemployment if you lost your job.
Too many states are trying to shut everything down on an election year and they don’t give a shite if it destroy people’s livelihoods.
But screw people that abuse the system.

Get as much as you can as easiest as you can. There are billionaires out there.
