15-24 year olds in the US. 125 deaths
0.121% mortality rate
Far greater risk they walk out of their dorm and get hit by a bus SMH

Thats mortality rate just based on testing.... not on total infected, which tons and rons are asymptomatic.
Look at it this way....
Any and every possible death that can be attributed to covid has been. And there are still ONLY 125. Wtf.
They have a greater risk of dying of Tuberculosis, stroke, Swine flu (in that year), lightning strikes and car wrecks.
This is bonkers.

Interesting how it is too unsafe for football players in a protected environment, being tested Regularly , but. not for the 30k students that are about to show up on campus. BTW no safeguards in place to ensure safety for them bedsides a stupid mask. The hypocrisy of it all. Far bigger picture of what’s really going on in this country than this virus that kills way less people than the flu!!

I have posted what you just said MINIMUM one dozen times on the various boards since this panicdemic started. The ACTUAL number of cases are way underreported due to asymptomatic, undocumented cases, and we all know how OVERREPORTED the deaths have been. The mortality rate in actuality is infinitesimal.

Schools are fricked either way.
Play, they don't care about players’ health.
Don’t play, they don’t care about players’ careers.

If student athlete health was truly a top concern then no university should be offering in class teaching this Fall.

I bet an athlete of team that isn’t playing commits suicide.

I wouldn’t go that extreme, but teams better have sports psychologists on retainer. If you’ve spent 3-5 years perfecting your craft and someone who doesn’t care whatsoever tells you that you can’t perform your job then there will be mental breakdowns.

It is not just the student athlete. It is the family as well. They are asking these young men to isolate completely from their families for months. This isn’t going home on bye weeks and meeting up on game weekends.

It's about two things.
Liabity.
Control
Control is the under estimated factor affecting this. Players want a partnership and a seat at the table moving forward to play this year. Read trevor lawrence's tweet yesterday.
Universities do not want players to have any say or any type of influence on things like:
Personal likeness
Disability benifits
Long term health care
Or monetary compensation
Big ten and pac 10 have determined it's in their finnicial best interests not to play this year.
Too expensive and risky.
Follow the money

Those are definite concerns and hopefully players see through this.

You’re exactly right. Bus is one thing, think about go home and get hit by a bullet.

Yeah, I thought it funny that the B1G commissioner said the decision was based on the health of the student-athletes, then named mental and emotional.
Clearly, this decision does not take into account their mental and emotional health.
