Picked 11 lbs of purple muscadines this week and 18 lbs of bronze fry muscadines.
My old man is gonna make some jelly with the purples (but only needs 5 lbs or so). I looked into making wine with the others, but it seems like a pretty big undertaking. Curious of anyone does it and would make some if I supplied the fruit? Or if I got the equipment, would give me a lifeline when I had questions? LOL.
Going to post on Outdoor Board, too
Thanks F&D

We have a metric shite ton fixing to ripen, they are great to chew on right off the vine, i like the jelly but the wine is just too sweet for me, I would sample a few peoples wine before investing the time money and energy needed to make your own
wish I could find something else to do with mine as well, I did make a glaze with cooked down juice sugar and corn starch to put on a pork loin once, it was good

Thanks for insight. I just counseled my wife and she doesn’t want me making it.
I would give these to someone that makes it tho in return for a couple bottles. 18 lbs of dey/bronze grapes n my fridge now. Harvested this morning.

I’ve only had 1 fry (1 grape) ripen and they are some of my favorite. My jumbos, sweetgates, and Carlos are ready though.

Care to share a recipe? Make the pie with bronze, or purple muscadines? What do you do about the seeds?

We only had purple muscadines growing up, but I don't see why you couldn't make a pie with the bronze variety.

My dad makes muscadine wine and it's pretty damn tasty. I'm not sure at all about the process though.

My brother is growing some, and i'm going to use it in one of my sour beers. About 3 lbs/gallon if i can get enough (15 lbs.). I've done it a couple years ago with muscadines purchased from the produce mart. Pretty good.

Someone gave me a case and a half. I will be drinking it for the rest of the year. It is sweet but it was also free.

Bug - let me know if he doesnt get enough, I really hate for these to go to waste. They are in the fridge...probably good for 2 more weeks or so
