Old Crow Medicine Show, Molly Tuttle, Billy Strings, ...

This weeks Grand Olde Opry. Perhaps one of the most throw back of shows I've seen them stream from the'Ryman.

find one that Lester Flatt played in, he sat that song out mostly.

the ability of a lot of bluegrass musicians is largely under-rated and under appreciated.

What an all star lineup on that stage. Skaggs, Rice, Jerry Douglas, Mark O'Connor, Del McCoury. Can you imagine that show?

I hate that this version of Dailey & Vincent's Sweet Carrie is out of focus, and whoever is working the camera doesn't get the mandolin player during his break. But still, I love the song, and the fact they can pick that fast amazes me.

Holy shite, what a line up! fricking A.

So nice to know we have years of enjoyment still to come from young talent like Tuttle and Strings.

As much as everybody freaks about her playing, Molly's voice is just amazing.

Yeah, he's a good banjo player. I remember, the first time I ever saw him, before SNL, The Jerk, or any of that, he was on Johnny Carson, playing banjo and telling jokes. He did some stupid card tricks too.

Been a big fan of his for a long time, even when he was with Newgrass Revival, he would mix classical parts in with grass on his long solos. Awesome stuff.

This is true. I HATED Ricky Skaggs and Vince Gill in their primes as I was a younger man. Don’t like that Bluegrass whiny vocal. Still don’t.

Flash forward to my midlife crisis. Decided on guitars and not a corvette and mistresses. I realize they are awesome. Also Skaggs can play damned near anything with strings. Basically always has been acoustic speed metal.

Molly Tuttle and Billy Strings are ridiculous.
