Payroll Tax Should Be Eliminated Permanetly

Many employees don’t realize that the SS and Med taxes taken out of their check the employer has to match. Do not only to they pay the funds withheld from your check they have to match those same funds for the “Tax”. It’s a draconian penalty to penalize employers who have already paid their employees and take all the liability if the business fails.

No it shouldn’t. You understand what public good comes from it? While you also get security from these taxes, the less fortunate get relief albeit I don’t agree with how some abuse it.

Enough federal excise/sales tax to fund the DOD, salaries for Congress and staff, salaries for SCOTUS and staff, and salaries for White House and staff.
Everything else in fed.gov gets cut.
That would be a good start to taxes.

I’m pretty sure he said today he plans to eliminate it permanently. I’m fine with this if I get even 50% of the money I paid into it.

So how do we pay for the government? If I said do away with social security something makes me suspect most would throw a fit saying it’s due them because they’ve promised me it etc. So how should we pay for it, or just keep making our kids pay for it like we’re doing?

Can you do us a quick pro forma for maybe the next 20 years on such of a decision?

Definitely should not be suspended. That would make the tax code way more progressive, and it would radically increase the number of citizens who are complete parasites, not paying any taxes.

Are they deferring deductions on earnings “up to” $104K or only deferring deductions for those that “earn less” than $104K?
Basically, will those that earn more than than $104K not see any deferment at all?
Most of the articles I’ve found devote 90% of the piece to trashing Trump and give few details on the actual EO.

So should Social Security and Medicare be eliminated (I'm not advocating for or against these programs just curious how you feel) because that's what Payroll taxes are used for? If not, where should the funds to pay for them come from?

i work for my corporation and employ myself and pay the whole 15.3% employee/employer.

I loathe paying into something that I will never receive the benefits from.

I agree with OP. Payroll taxes (and property taxes) are theft.

U.S. government would just shift the entire burden to the employer in one way or the other. They will increase overall tax on business or some other shite.
U.S. government is a junkie. They cannot give up income sources.

I argued this with my son this weekend. It started with corporate tax when I said there should be none because it is a sneak a tax on consumers. I then popped the payroll tax on him and he didn't know that companies had to pay to employee him.
The slow process of backing him away from leftism...

You can also deduct a portion of these

I am in favor of every employee paying their own taxes every quarter. Basically, make everyone a 1099. It would wake a lot of people up to just how much they pay.
Anyone that thinks the "employer" pays anything for the "employee" doesn't remotely understand how businesses work. Yes, the employer match appears to come from the employer but its really just part of employee total costs.
Similarly, businesses don't really pay taxes. Its figured into the cost of their product (goods or services).
