Here is the one issue that proves liberalism is a mental illness

The idea that you can tax your way to prosperity. It’s economically proven to be impossible. It’s never happened in the history of mankind. It’s never going to happen. It will NEVER work. Yet they truly believe it can be done. Like the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over. It’s this single wrong minded reasoning that brings down a country.
What Churchill said is right. “I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle.”
And what makes this mental illness even more disturbing is that they KNOW this.

The libs must tax everyone so they can have money for their stupid ideas. That's the extent of their economic plan - Green New Deal, anyone?

Prosperity isn't the goal of modern progressives.

It’s easy to support legislation to raise taxes when you have a double major in ethnic studies and basket weaving and sit on the couch collecting welfare

Travelling from New Orleans to Dallas on a dusty two lane dirt road is just a little much in this day and time don't you think?

So everyone in Sweden and the other Scandinavian countries with a high tax rate and high standard of living is dirt poor?

LOL! Compare how they live, to how Americans live. If the average American looked at what the average Swedish citizen owned, the American would assume they were poor. Entirely different lifestyle there.

The idea that you can tax your way to prosperity.

seems like a compassionate person would have picked executing tens of millions of fetuses as the one issue. how does taxation trump murdering fetuses?

Not to mention, how old is the Scandinavian model? It’s an infant. Give it a little time. Two things I know for sure, you can’t drink yourself sober and you can’t borrow your way out of debt, even if you’re borrowing other people’s money(taxes).

No, but a 2 bedroom condo or apartment is upper middle class. People with good jobs don't have golf carts, boats, multiple vacations each year. They might be able to afford a gym membership and eat out a few times per month.

quote:So you have a problem with privatization creating toll roads that are superior in many ways to govt. products? As such only those traveling the road would foot the bill instead of Joe in AK and Jane in HI paying for a road they'll never travel.

at the down votes. I know, dealing with realism is tough for some of y'all.
Plus privatization would respond faster to future road needs whether maintenance or creation and would provide for a financial redress of damages from neglect, engineering, other road issues in a more timely manner.

Ok - as a maxim I agree that you can not tax yourself into prosperity. But let me demonstrate to you a RARE exception.
The City of Boulder, Colorado in the 1960s was rural in feel. And the hippies were moving in in droves. As they moved in they gobbled up all the homes and land.
Then , as it grew into the 70s and 80s they realized the feel of the town was changing. So they passed Open Space taxes that were pretty high and started having the city buy up land and space very aggressively. This in turn led to land scarcity and drove up property values. By then strict zoning laws and residential caps were in place. And they continued to buy private land for the city via taxes. And property values continued to soar.
Thus any hippy who bought and held, voted for open space taxes, became wealthy over time. They had essentially taxed ( and regulated) themselves into prosperity.

Because a LOT of it has to do with envy and REVENGE. They hate you, so this is a way to "get back" at you.

And it's a fundamental component of every idea and platform they set forth...well, that and subjugating minorities.

Context is something you don't seem to have a good grasp of. Typical of those with dirt-level IQ's like yours though.
