Damn, really good news for you, glad to hear.
Yeah with no power if your house ok considering it just went through a Cat 4, can wait a bit to get back
Thanks man, I appreciate it. I think I saw in an earlier post that yours turned out good as well.
While I’m grateful and happy as could be with the info I received, it’s still difficult to be totally happy knowing how so many others aren’t as fortunate.

I agree, we'll need to let this thread drop, some bad karma here, maybe a new thread will bring better luck

Yes. Hip roof is more favorable for higher wind loads and/or snow.

Looking at videos and pictures on Facebook and SWLA looks like a warzone. Not nearly the same amount of flooding like Rita but it's obvious the wind damage is way worse. Flooding is expensive to repair so I am not sure if this will be costlier but just from what I have seen this was way more pure destruction.

I'm guessing wind put pressure on the eaves along the gable ends which compromised the roof framing where the eaves were attached.

We’ll all have blue roofs for months.

Damn, take the part on the right, add a 2 car garage to the left, and that looks just like my house growing up.

Yea. I am considering getting a few crews together but I really don't miss working with the general public. I repaired a ton of roofs after Rita and made a lot of money, though. Doing bank work is just so much easier. Funny thing the banks don't allow blue tarps because HUD doesn't want them used. Only black or brown so I need to stock up on some black and brown tarps because we will have a lot to tarp just on the repo houses I manage.

I wonder if this thing finally wiped out the fish streets south of town. Such a shitty neighborhood for that area and somehow it kept ticking after Rita.

Any guess on how long it will take to get power back to central Lake Charles?
How long did it take to get back for Rita?

Parents got to their house in Hack-el-berry...man it did a number. They **had** a robust sheet metal roof that is completely gone. Trees that laughed at Rita snapped in half from Laura.
Gonna head to them as soon as "outsiders" are let in to help pick up the pieces. My mom is in shock.

Stout I have a friend that is a licensed tree cutter and he’s heading that way with all his equipment and crew and they are legit.
They spent a few weeks in PC last year after Micheal and are really good.
Let me know and I’ll hook y’all up together and let y’all work out some things.
