now do how long their GMs lasted after that

None of them were. As great as Mack is, I guarantee you that the Bears wouldn't do that over again if they had a mulligan. Teams absolutely crush their ability to acquire cheap talent by going all in on a single player like that.

Joey Galloway
definitely not him

IMO, the only types of players that would be worth 2 first round picks would be proven franchise QBs. Like if a 27-28 year old Brady/Manning demanded a trade. No other player at any position is worth that. No other player can impact a game more by himself than 2 first round picks, especially when you're talking about getting said 1st round picks at a premium rookie price.

Depends on who was available with the picks and who would've been doing the drafting.

When you have to pay a massive contract on top of making the trade it becomes nearly impossible to justify giving up two firsts for anybody other than a franchise QB

Is the only one who was twice traded for two first rounders?

The two first round picks the Bears gave up for Mack were Josh Jacobs and Damon Arnette. Mack is easily worth that.

Not all 1st round picks are created equal. Top 10 has much more value and odds of success than the bottom third of Round 1. Good teams like the Seahawks trading 1st rounders isn't a huge impact, but they are likely picking 20+ bc they make the playoffs almost every year.
If you normalize and it just say that a Rd 1 pick = 16th overall, it's about a 50/50 proposition of success.

Mack and Ramsey.
Tunsil is a top 5 right tackle, but right tackles aren’t as valuable as left. Plus they had to sign him to a completely new contract.
Generally speaking, if you are trading 2 1st rounders for a player, he is in the top 3-5 at his position, he has at least 2 years left on a deal that is paying him below market value, and you are a playoff team before you add the guy.

2 1st, a 2nd, and 2 4ths... Julio.

Mack is the only one to show that worth.

Mack for sure.
Tunsil possibly.
Ramsey maybe.

I think the three most valuable positions in football right now are
QB
Edge rusher and OT
End of the day. QB matters ten times more than any other position. You basically need 3-4 hall of famers on defense to make up for an average QB(see Ravens and Bucs titles). So unless you can produce Barber, Sapp, Brooks, and Lynch on that side of the field paying two first rounders for a defenders while having a shite QB is a terrible investment.

Ricky Williams wasn’t worth a whole years draft.
I’d say the falcons did ok with giving away most their picks for Julio but no telling where they might be with those picks instead of drafting Julio
