Shannon Breem, hotbox, reporting that in a 9-0 vote they have to vote as directed.

I was reading about this up coming ruling yesterday. Alito already signaled NO WAY will ruling for no electoral college be anything but chaos
Have they ruled on this?
Have they ruled on this?

Good. Small portion of faith remains for scotus. Unanimous was only reasonable way for that vote to go.

So that would seem to bring to a screeching halt all these states saying their electoral votes will go with whomever wins the overall popular vote.

It should be noted this only applies to the 30 states that have rules binding the electors.
I'm sure there is a list out there of which do and do not have these rules.

Those are all bogus and symbolic anyway because states can’t change rules for federal elections. Same thing happened when California tried to make it a rule that to be on the ballot you had to release your tax returns.

If Colorado goes red but popular vote is for Biden. Does Colorado electors still vote Trump?

Good. There should never have even been a question about this.

Apparently CO is one of the states with a law binding electors to the vote, so no they wouldn't be able to vote Biden if Trump wins the state.

it's an effort to get a constitutional amendment started
that said... if you truly want to see a 2nd civil war start... take away the electoral college so 15-20 states dictate the federal policy to the other 30-35 states who will have essentially no say in the matter

the ticket that get the most Colorado votes gets all the Colorado EC delegates.....
this is the same for every state except for Maine and Nebraska. in those two states, overall winner gets the delegates corresponding to the senators (2 delegates) but the winner of each congressional district gets that delegate.
IE Nebraska has 3 congressional districts and Maine has twp. thpse can be split based on voting within each

quote:IIRC, that bit does not occur until enough states to comprise 270 EVs sign on. When that occurs, it will be found unconstitutional as well IMO.

i am going to read this case because i thought it was going to go the other way like 7-2. i must have something very wrong about the issue/law
